This report is summary of study on environmental radioactivity effected from the accident at the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in 5 years after the accident. It was compiled efforts related to the accident reported from the 13th to the 17th "Workshop on Environmental Radioactivity" which was held at the High Energy Accelerator Research and Development Organization.

Workshop on Environmental Radioactivity was established in 2000 and has been held every year on February or March at KEK, Tsukuba. The proceedings with peer review has been published after every workshop. After the accident at the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant occurred in 2011, large number of scientific reports related to the accident were presented in this workshop. Researchers, technicians, local government staff, and general citizens have participated in the workshop to exchange information on various subjects. The organizing members of the workshop summarized 326 reports in the workshop during 2012 to 2016 and related publications. The summary report was published as follows. To select and to presume the parameters adaptable to biosphere assessment of geological disposal at an actual environment, the procedure of updating a database using the domestic biosphere data was developed and was tried to a part of element-specific parameters. As a result, we were able to set the reliable biosphere parameters, by arranging important background information to secure the reliability of the parameter.

Just after an accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (FDNPP), data of radionuclides released from the FDNPP were measured for environmental samples by some researchers at individual research institute and university. However a comprehensive database including these data is not constructed now. Working group of the Japan Society of Nuclear and Radiochemical Sciences decided to construct a comprehensive database of data of the radionuclides in environmental samples. This database contains data such as sampling location, sampling method, sampling times, type of measurement system, concentrations of the radionuclides and others in the publications/reports and unpublished issues. Researchers input the data in a dedicated Excel sheet. The working group verifies and registers the data in the database, and then summarizes them in a scientific report.
