Proceedings of 40th IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC-40) (CD-ROM), p.2149 - 2154, 2014/06

The electrical performance of a glass-type space solar sheet (G-SSS) was demonstrated in space. G-SSS comprises InGaP/GaAs dual-junction and InGaP/GaAs/InGaAs triplejunction solar cells. It is lightweight solar generation sheet, less than 0.5 mm thick. It is mounted on the "HISAKI" (SPRINT-A) small scientific satellite, which was launched on September 14, 2013. The initial flight data were successfully acquired and this flight demonstration was a world-first experiment for G-SSS using III-V multi-junction thin-film solar cells. The cells demonstrated superior performance and the electrical outputs matched the flight prediction.

The Change of water quality during rain event at Ijira river

Kankyo Kogaku Kenkyu Rombunshu, 46, p.565 - 572, 2009/00

This study analyzed the changes of water quality during rain events at Ijira river, a mountain stream in Gifu Prefecture, by measured the major ion concentration, pH, electric conductivity, discharge, and hydrograph separation using deuterium isotope ratio of the water. During rain events, where the discharge is increase, almost all of the major ion concentration, pH and electric conductivity were decreased. We also found that the correlation of the changes of pH and the changes of electric conductivity with precipitation were negative. The result of hydrograph separation shows that the ratio of surface runoff for discharge is increased with an increased of the precipitation, and also increased in the high precipitation. It was shown that the major factor of the changes of water quality in this study site is the contribution of surface runoff.

For a study on the applicability of a personal dosimetry method to criticality accident dosimetry, an assessment of the human body surface and internal dose estimations was performed by experimental and computational simulations. The experimental simulation was carried out in a criticality accident situation at the TRACY facility. The neutron and $$gamma$$-ray absorbed doses in muscle tissue were separately estimated by a dosimeter set of an alanine dosimeter and a thermoluminescence dosimeter made of enriched lithium tetra borate with a phantom. The computational simulation was conducted with a Monte Carlo code taking account of dose components of neutrons, prompt $$gamma$$-rays and delayed $$gamma$$-rays. The computational simulation was ascertained to be valid by comparison between the calculated dose distributions in the phantom and the measured ones. The assessment based on the experimental and computational simulations confirmed that the personal dosimetry using the dosimeter set provided a first estimation of the body surface and internal doses with precision.

The National Centralized Tokamak (NCT) facility program is a domestic research program for advanced tokamak research to succeed JT-60U incorporating Japanese university accomplishments. The mission of NCT is to establish high beta steady-state operation for DEMO and to contribute to ITER. The machine flexibility and mobility is pursued in aspect ratio and shape controllability, feedback control of resistive wall modes, wide current and pressure profile control capability for the demonstration of the high-b steady state.

Sako, Hiroyuki; Sakaki, Hironao; Takahashi, Hiroki; Yoshikawa, Hiroshi; Ito, Yuichi; Kato, Yuko; Kawase, Masato; Shen, G.; Kiyomichi, Akio; Kamikubota, Norihiko*; et al.

Proceedings of 3rd Annual Meeting of Particle Accelerator Society of Japan and 31st Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan (CD-ROM), p.373 - 375, 2006/00

A Relational database (RDB) system, which is the core of the J-PARC Linac control system, has been developed. The beam commissioning of Linac is planned to start in December 2006. The RDB sytem consists of the following databases; "DB1", which records basic device parameters, "DB2", which acquires online EPICS data, "Operation Log DB", which records a history of operating parameters, and "Commissioning DB", which holds information on geometry of devices and commissioning. We report on the development status of each DB as well as status of the unified commissioning environment software which utilizes these databases.

Design studies are shown on the National Centralized Tokamak facility. The machine design is carried out to investigate the capability for the flexibility in aspect ratio and shape controllability for the demonstration of the high-beta steady state operation with nation-wide collaboration, in parallel with ITER towards DEMO. Two designs are proposed and assessed with respect to the physics requirements such as confinement, stability, current drive, divertor, and energetic particle confinement. The operation range in the aspect ratio and the plasma shape is widely enhanced in consistent with the sufficient divertor pumping. Evaluations of the plasma performance towards the determination of machine design are presented.
