In order to study an interplay of disorder, correlation, and spin imbalance on antiferromagnetism, we systematically explore the ground state of one-dimensional spin-imbalanced Anderson-Hubbard model by using the density-matrix renormalization-group method. We find that disorders localize the antiferromagnetic spin-density wave induced by imbalanced fermions and the increase in the disorder magnitude shrinks the areas of the localized antiferromagnetized regions. Moreover, the antiferromagnetism finally disappears above a large disorder. The localization behaviors are observable in atomic Fermi gases loaded on optical lattices as broadening of the momentum distribution of the spin density by using the Stern-Gerlach type of time-of-fight imaging.

Hole localization in strongly correlated and disordered systems; DMRG studies for 1-D and 3-leg ladder random Hubbard models

We study one-dimensional and 3-leg ladder repulsive Hubbard models with random potential by using the density-matrix renormalization group method. When holes are slightly doped to the half-filling, the local Mott phase called "Mott plateau" and the local dip structure in density profile called "hole localized valley" are well-separately observable in strong on-site repulsive U=t and strong randomness for both models. We suggest that these separated structures qualitatively capture locally inhomogeneous characters seen in heavily under-doped High-Tc superconductors.

Hole localization in the one-dimensional doped Anderson-Hubbard model

We study an interplay of disorder and correlation in the one- dimensional hole-doped Hubbard-model with disorder (Anderson-Hubbard model) by using the density-matrix renormalization group method. Concentrating on the doped-hole density profile, we find in a large $$U/t$$ regime that the clean system exhibits a simple fluidlike behavior whereas finite disorders create locally Mott regions which expand their area with increasing the disorder strength contrary to the conventional sense. We propose that such an anomalous Mott phase formation assisted by disorder is easily observable in atomic Fermi gases by setup of the box-shape trap.

Holocene faulting on the Yugamine fault of the Atera fault zone, central Japan

Katsudanso Kenkyu, (27), p.201 - 209, 2007/06

The Yugamine fault, 10 km in length, is in the north-central part of the Atera fault zone. We studied Holocene activity of the Yugamine fault through a trenching survey. Some humic layers and fluvial gravels are exposed on the trench walls. The Yugamine fault has cut through these layers to form a linear depression on its NE side. From the structural evidence along the fault plane and angular unconformity, we recognize at least four faulting events in this trench.

After Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident happened on 11 March 2011, we have been providing the right information about radiation and radioactivity via a Q&A website. Immediately after the accident, volunteers of Japan Health Physics Society (JHPS) built up a website named Questions and Answers about Radiation in Daily Life. They carefully answered all of the questions posted on the website. In August, Steering Committee of the Q&A site was officially established in JHPS. Since then, the Committee has been engaged in the risk communication activities to the public. We have analyzed characteristics of questioners and question contents of about 1,500 posted on our web site so far. It has been found that mothers of small children form the major portion of the questioners all through the period.
