Times Cited Count:3 Percentile:57.04(Chemistry, Analytical)Rapid analysis of Sr in bone and tooth samples of cattle were achieved by an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) coupled with mass shift and solid phase extraction techniques. Limit of detection (LOD) in the ICP-MS measurement of 0.1 g samples was lower than that of the radioactivity measurement. Analytical time of the ICP-MS method was reduced from 20 days to 11 hours, compared with the radiometric method. Therefore, the ICP-MS method can be rapid and useful procedure of Sr in small bone and tooth samples derived from terrestrial animals.

A thermodynamic database was established to develop a thermodynamic database for performance assessment of geological disposal of high-level and TRU wastes. Twenty-four elements (actinides, fission products and their daughters) which are of importance for the performance assessment of geological disposal have been selected. The fundamental plan was in principle based on the guidelines established by the Nuclear Energy Agency in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD/NEA). Additional unique guidelines were established due to a requirement from the performance assessment to select tentative thermodynamic values obtained from chemical analogues and/or models for elements with insufficient thermodynamic values. Selected thermodynamic data were compiled for geochemical calculation programs.

Current status of the RDB system in J-PARC LINAC is presented. The machine database records static data of devices and the control system, whereas the operation log database records a history of operation parameters. The overall design of control flow among high-level applications, simulators, and database is described. Then results of a control test of the power supply for DTQ, and a prototype test of the operation log database in MEBT1 test bench at KEK are reported. In the end, a scheme to generate simulation configuration files from RDB is shown.

We demonstrated a method of Sr measurement in small pieces of hard tissues with radioactivity measurement or ICP-MS measurement. Interference elements of the measurements were removed by chemical separation. We could determine Sr in 0.1 g of hard tissues by radioactivity measurement method and ICP-MS method. Limit of detection of the ICP-MS method was lower than that of the radioactivity measurement. The ICP-MS method is adequate method for distribution analysis of Sr in the hard tissues.
