However, the evaluated nuclear data libraries maintained by national or international coordinated efforts (ENDF, JEFF, JENDL, CENDL) are to date, incomplete as far as charged-particle- induced reactions in the resolved resonance region are concerned. The IAEA Nuclear Data Section is coordinating an international effort to (i) verify that the existing R-matrix codes are consistent, (ii) evaluate charged-particle cross sections in the resolved resonance region, (iii) produce evaluated nuclear data files for further processing and finally (iv) disseminate the evaluated data through general purpose evaluated nuclear data libraries. We present the results of the effort made thus far on (1) verification of the available R-matrix codes, minimization methods and calculation of covariances, (2) the evaluation of the compound system Be*, and (3) improving reaction data for the applications.

Here we report low-temperature nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements revealing a pronounced decrease in the In formal Knight shift, without changes in crystal or magnetic structures, of CeRhIn at fields () spanning . We discuss the emergent state above in terms of a change in Ce's 4 orbitals that arises from field-induced evolution of crystal-electric field (CEF) energy levels. This change in orbital character enhances hybridization between the 4 and the conduction electrons that leads ultimately to an itinerant quantum-critical point at 50T.

In addition to the description of the capabilities of the codes and their specifications, we discuss the results of a joint exercise which was coordinated by the International Atomic Energy Agency. The aim of the exercise was to compare calculations of charged-particle reaction cross sections for the light composite system Be. The calculations were performed by the codes using identical input R-matrix parameters and other specifications and were limited to charged-particle channels.

This multi-laboratory pilot project, coordinated via the OECD/NEA Working Party on Evaluation Cooperation (WPEC) Subgroup 40 with support also from the IAEA, has motivated experimental and theoretical work and led to suites of new evaluated libraries that accurately reflect measured data and also perform well in integral simulations of criticality. This report summarizes our results and outlines plans for the next phase of this collaboration.

At the lowest measured temperature of 0.4 K, a clear anomaly reflecting a Fermi surface instability near 22 T inside the HO state is detected by the Si shift, . Moreover, a strong enhancement of develops near a critical field T, and the Si-NMR signal disappears suddenly at , indicating the total suppression of the HO state. Nevertheless, a weak and shifted Si-NMR signal reappears for fields higher than at 4.2 K, providing evidence for a magnetic structure within the magnetic phase caused by the Ising-type anisotropy of the uranium ordered moments.

It brings together experts from across the international nuclear reaction data community to identify and document discrepancies among existing evaluated data libraries, measured data, and model calculation interpretations, and aims to make progress in reconciling these discrepancies to create more accurate ENDF-formatted files. The focus will initially be on a small number of the highest-priority isotopes, namely H, O, Fe, U, and Pu. This paper identifies discrepancies between various evaluations of the highest priority isotopes. The evaluated data for these materials in the existing nuclear data libraries are reviewed, and some integral properties are given. The paper summarizes a program of nuclear science and computational work needed to create the new CIELO nuclear data evaluations.

The Knight shifts for the nuclei show an Ising-type anisotropy along the axis, similar to results from the static susceptibility. From the Knight shift measurements, the hyperfine coupling constants have been determined. The anisotropy of the spin- lattice relaxation rates indicates that the anisotropy of spin fluctuations are also Ising-like along the axis. The localized character of the electrons in this system is discussed.

A possible origin of this discrepancy lies in differences between the initial spin/parity population distribution. To investigate this, the angular momentum transfer of the surrogate reaction in Gd nuclei has been measured.

These advances focus on neutron cross sections, covariances, fission product yields and decay data, and represent work by the US Cross Section Evaluation Working Group (CSEWG) in nuclear data evaluation that utilizes developments in nuclear theory, modeling, simulation, and experiment. It features extension of covered nuclei, covariance data for 190 nuclei, R-matrix analyses of neutron reactions on light nuclei, updates for some medium-heavy and actinoid nuclei, etc. Criticality benchmark tests with a transport simulation code MCNP shows improved performances.

The effect of dilute La substitution in CeLaRhIn (0x0.07) has been investigated microscopically by nuclear magnetic/quadrupole resonance (NMR/NQR). By the dilute La substitutions, the 4 lines for In(1) sites are found to be undisturbed and to have a reasonably narrow width, even in the ordered AF state. These 4 positions in the La-substituted CeRhIn indicate a decrease of the internal field on In(1) sites, due to the reduction of hyperfine couplings by La substitutions. The spin-lattice relaxation rates () using these 4 lines at high temperatures can be understood by the reduction of exchange energy and effective moments. On the other hand, in the AF ordered state can be explained by a gapped Fermi surface and spin fluctuations of uncompensated localized Ce moments near the La ions.

A thermodynamic analysis of its superconductivity, combined with nuclear quadrupole resonance measurements, shows that nonmagnetic impurities (Y, La, Yb, Th, Hg, and Sn) locally suppress unconventional superconductivity, generating an inhomogeneous electronic "Swiss cheese" due to disrupted periodicity of the Kondo lattice. Our analysis may be generalized to include related systems, suggesting that electronic inhomogeneity should be considered broadly in Kondo lattice materials.

Recently phenomenological picture of the formation of the heavy femion state was put forward in terms of a two-component susceptibility, one component corresponding to non-interacting local moments and second, low-temperature component associated with onset of heavy fermation state (so-called "two-fluid" model). This phenomenology can be studied by measuring the local susceptibility via SR Knight shift measurements. Normally, the Knight shift is proposional to the bulk susceptibility. The onset of second component appears as a deviation in the linear relation. Previously we discovered a non-linear relation in UThBe, which was interpreted in terms of a temperature-dependent hyperfine field. Here we reexamine these data in terms of the two-fluid model. Our analysis shows that these date are consistent with the scaling law proposed. The SR data are discussed in terms of related changes in the resistivity and the NMR relaxation rates in these systems.
