KNbO nanocrystals were grown by solvothermal technique assisted by a microwave treatment. We performed high-energy X-ray diffraction to extract average and local structural parameters. The particle size can be evaluated by the Scherrer's equation. The unit cell size was reduced as the particle size increased. The local structure was found to be a rhombohedral structure, which was similar to that of the bulk KNbO.

In order to determine ECP at any location, ECP should be evaluated by computer simulation codes consisting of water radiolysis models to determine the concentrations of corrosive radiolytic species and mixed potential models to determine ECP based on corrosive species. Mitigation of SCC crack growth rate due to decreasing ECP can be authorized by the JSME Standards, while mitigation of ECP due to hydrogen addition has not been authorized yet. In the paper, standard procedures to authorize the computer simulation codes based on the verification and validation method are proposed. The numerical justification of every code applied as a standard code should be verified and its accuracy and applicability for plant analysis should be validated. Benchmark problems for verification processes are proposed and comparison of the calculated results with the measured ones for the plant of evaluation is required.

At a molar percentage of EGDMA of 1.0 mol%, the sheet exhibited a maximum dynamic binding capacity for copper ions of 0.93 mmol/g, while the equilibrium binding capacity remained the same (1.2 mmol/g) as that of a non-crosslinked chelating porous sheet. The crosslinking of the grafted chain causes copper ions to lower their diffusion rate along the sheet thickness driven by the gradient of the amount of copper ions adsorbed.

We present the inverse slope parameter, mean transverse momentum, and yield per unit rapidity at each energy, and compare them to other measurements at different collisions. We also present the scaling properties such as and scaling and discuss the mechanism of the particle production in collisions. The measured spectra are compared to next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations.

Here we extend these studies to two particle correlations where one particle is an electron from the decay of a heavy flavor meson and the other is a charged hadron from either the decay of the heavy meson or from jet fragmentation. These measurements provide more detailed information about the interaction between heavy quarks and the quark-gluon matter. We find the away-side-jet shape and yield to be modified in Au+Au collisions compared to collisions.

In order to determine [HO] directly in high temperature water, an electrochemical sensor array consisting of an ECP sensor and a complex impedance sensor has been developed. As a result of evaluation, it was confirmed that (1) The radii of the low frequency semicircle of Cole-Cole plots of the frequency dependent complex impedance (FDCI) data decreased as [HO]. The measured radii can be applied for determining [HO], when the stability of oxide film on the stainless surface of the sensor is maintained. (2) The performance of the sensor array has been confirmed by measuring [HO] in the high temperature high pressure hydrogen peroxide water loop. (3) Combination of ECP and FDCI sensors might be a hopeful candidate to determine [HO] in the BWR primary coolant at elevated temperature.

Future synchrotron light source using a 5-GeV energy recovery linac (ERL) is under proposal by our Japanese collaboration team, and we are conducting R&D efforts for that. We are developing high-brightness DC photocathode guns, two types of cryomodules for both injector and main superconducting (SC) linacs, and 1.3 GHz high CW-power RF sources. We are also constructing the Compact ERL (cERL) for demonstrating the recirculation of low-emittance, high-current beams using above-mentioned critical technologies.

The field dependence of the Eu valence is directly observed for the first time. We find a significant decrease in the valences at high magnetic fields above 40 T. The valence of Eu changes from v = 2.75 at a zero field to v = 2.33 at 40 T for x = 0.82. The results are analyzed using a theoretical model. The hybridization parameter V between the Eu and Eu states and the energy separation are determined, which are crucial for quantum mechanical mixing.

Devil's flower has been found in a temperature-pressure phase diagram of NaVO, which shows a charge disproportionation (CD) at ambient pressure. By a complementary use of an X-ray structural analysis and a resonant X-ray diffraction, which is sensitive to CD, we have investigated the structural relationship between two ground states appeared in lower and higher pressure regions including the charge arrangements. It has been clarified that two equivalent types of charge arrangement in CD correspond to the Ising variable in NaVO. The atomic shifts are regarded as linearly coupled to the Ising spins. The results lead us to the conclusion that it is the first time that the devil's flower blooms in a charge-disproportionation system. The results also lead us to a hypothesis that the competitive interactions between a Ising spins may result from the Ising spin-phonon coupling.

The structure of the C-phase is well explained by the () pattern which is one of four layers () of the C-phase, however, the amount of the atomic shifts under the conditions 1.6 GPa and 6 K is 27% that under ambient pressure. On the other hand, resonant X-ray scattering showed that the charges are disproportionated under high pressure. Based on these facts, it was concluded that charge disproportionation corresponds to the Ising variable in NaVO, where the atomic shifts are regarded as linearly coupled to the Ising spins. These results lead to the hypothesis that the competitive interactions between the Ising spins may result from the Ising spin-phonon coupling.
