This study investigates molecular changes caused by the F54L mutation and explores the factors contributing to the Adem rat phenotype. Results showed that the F54L mutant was less active than WT Txn1 on insulin substrates, but no significant difference in redox potential was observed. On the other hand, F54L is more sensitive to degeneration in the body temperature range than the wild type. Furthermore, the crystal structure showed that F54 formed hydrophobic interactions with the surrounding hydrophobic amino acids. Moreover, the MD simulation results show increased fluctuations around the F54L mutation, as well as a tendency for the distance between residues C32 and C35 at the catalytic center to widen. The molecular dynamics of the F54L mutation may affect the substrate reduction activity, thermal stability, and kinetic stability.

Creep characteristic of the thick laminated rubber bearing made of natural rubber installed in the actual vibration isolation building for 55.2 years could be estimated by using existing measurement data and newly measurement data. Creep measurement data sets were examined by simple regression equation of recommended by JIS K6410-2. Regression analysis showed that the average creep displacement characteristics could be described by a power law. Average creep displacement of the thick laminated rubber bearings installed the building for 60 years was estimated 3.4 mm by the regression equation. The method of JIS K6410-2 is useful for forecasting creep displacement.

To secure the seismic safety of the thin-walled mechanical components and piping under a severe design earthquake level, employing a three-dimensional (3D) seismic isolation system has been planned in a sodium-cooled fast reactor. The development results of the 3D isolation system have been reported in previous papers so far. Its update is reported in Part 7 to Part 9. Part 7 describes the overview of the development, the test plan of the isolation system in the assembled state of each element, and the performance of individual isolation elements. In part 8, the performance of the isolation device that each element was assembled into was investigated through loading tests. Part 9 reports analytical studies by an analysis model validated based on the insight of the test results.

The dose rate of the locations where the walk survey was performed decreased to about 38% of its initial value in the 42 months, which was beyond that attributable to the physical decay. The air dose rates decreased depending on the level of the evacuation areas, and the decrease was slightly larger in populated areas where humans are active. The comparison of walk survey data with car-borne survey data indicated that the air dose rate varies largely even within a 100 m square area. The dose rates measured by the walk surveys were estimated to be medial of those along roads and those of undisturbed flat ground. The air dose rates measured by the walk surveys decreased quickly compared with the air dose rate from the flat ground measurement.

The method to remove Pu, Am and Np from plutonium nitrate solution recovered from spent nuclear fuel prior to ICP-OES measurement has been developed for the determination of 18 impurity metal elements (Fe, Cr, Ni, Mn, Al, Cd, V, Cu, Si, Zn, Mo, Sn, Ca, Mg, Na, Ag, Pb, B). In this method, two TRU resin packed columns were used for separation. In the first column, Pu and Am were mainly removed by adsorption. The recovered solution from the fist column was added to the second column after reduction of Np, and Am(III) and Np(IV) were removed by adsorption. The Pu nitrate solution (22g/L) of 2mL were treated by proposed method. The alpha emission nuclide was decreased to
5.8 Bq/mL in a solution diluted to 100mL. As a result of ICP-OES measurement, the recoveries of impurity metals separated by proposed method were almost 100%. This separation scheme can apply to the metal impurity elemental analysis in Pu nitrate solution recovered from spent nuclear fuel.

Half-scale thick rubber bearing to investigate ultimate properties application for a Sodium-cooled-Fast-Reactor. The fundamental restoring-force characteristics of the thick rubber bearings has been already cleared through the static loading tests using a half-scale thick rubber bearing, 800 mm in diameter. However, variations of the restoring force characteristics and ultimate properties have not been obtained yet. The purpose of this paper is to indicate the variation of the stiffness and damping ratio concerning restoring force characteristics and the breaking strain or stress as ultimate properties through static loading tests using the half-scale thick rubber bearings.

We have successfully developed an instrumentation and control (I&C) system for the diagnostic systems. The I&C system manages internal operations for measurement such as health checks of sensors, configuration of measurement parameters, and consistency checks between measurement parameters. We developed a conversion tool to convert operational flowcharts to EPICS records. The sequencing management function coordinates the execution of operation steps by monitoring changes in the record values. It was designed so that the relationship between the records and steps is determined automatically according to the flowcharts as much as possible. We validated the performance of the I&C system for the thermocouple measurement system, and are continuing the development of even more complex I&C systems for other JADA diagnostic systems.
