single crystals for
and
-planes. To avoid the difficulty of
determinations due to the flux pinning, we developed a novel method using a miniature hall-sensor array which can evaluate the local magnetic induction ai each sensor position. The hall sensor which is placed on the edge of the crystal clearly resolves the first flux penetration from the Meissner state. The temperature dependence of
for
is well scaled by the in-plane penetration depth and is consistent with a full-gap superconducting state. The anistropy of
at low temperatures is estimated to be
3, which is much smaller than of
. This indicates the multiband superconductivity, in which the active bands for superconductivity are more two-dimensional.

Critical-state like flux distributions and the magnitude and temperature dependence of the critical current demonstrate bulk vortex pinning by oxygen vacancies at all temperatures.

JAEA-Review 2010-037, 60 Pages, 2010/09
When a nuclear emergency occurs in Japan, the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) provides technical support to the National government, local governments, police, fire station and license holder etc. They are designated public organizations conforming to the basic law on emergency preparedness and the basic plan for disaster countermeasures. The Nuclear Emergency Assistance & Training Center (NEAT) of JAEA provides a comprehensive range of technical support activities to an off-site center in case of a nuclear emergency. Specifically, NEAT gives technical advice and information, provides for the dispatch of specialist as required, supplies emergency equipments and materials to the national government and municipal office. NEAT provide various lectures and training course concerning nuclear disaster prevention for those personnel taking an active part in emergency response organizations at normal time. And NEAT researches on nuclear disaster prevention and also cooperate with international organizations. This annual report summarized the activities of JAEA/NEAT in the fiscal year 2009.

The first criticality, control rod positions at critical conditions, neutron flux distribution, excess reactivity etc. were measured as representative data. These data were evaluated with Monte Carlo code MVP that can consider the heterogeneity of coated fuel particles (CFP) distributed randomly in fuel compacts directly. It was made clear that the heterogeneity effect of CFP on reactivity for annular cores is smaller than that for fully-loaded cores. Measured and calculated effective multiplication factors (k) were agreed with differences less than 1%k. Measured neutron flux distributions agreed with calculated results. The revising method was applied for evaluation of excess reactivity to exclude negative shadowing effect of control rods. The revised and calculated excess reactivity agreed with differences less than 1%
k/k.

A large amount of nitrate in effluent occurring from Tokai reprocessing plant might cause environmental pollution. The effluent is planning to be encapsulated by cement after treated in the nitrate ion decomposition process. In this presentation, we will report the results of the small scale tests for cement solidification technology development of effluent containing a sodium carbonate.
