The conductor is cable-in-conduit conductor with a central spiral. A total of 900 NbSn strands and 522 copper strands are cabled around the central spiral and then wrapped with stainless steel tape whose thickness is 0.1 mm. Approximately 60 tons of Nb
Sn strands were manufactured by the two suppliers in December 2010. This amount corresponds to approximately 55% of the total contribution from Japan. Approximately 30% of the total contribution from Japan was completed as of February 2011. JAEA is manufacturing one conductor per month under a contract with two Japanese companies for strands, one company for cabling and one company for jacketing. This paper summarizes the technical developments including a high-level quality assurance. This progress is a significant step in the construction of the ITER machine.

at 773 K were investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical dissolution of PuN and (U, Pu)N began nearly at -1.0 V vs. the Ag/AgCl reference electrode. The rest potentials of PuN and (U, Pu)N were observed at about 0.15 V more negative potential than that of UN since the equilibrium potential of UN is about 0.15 V more positive than that of PuN. In the cyclic voltammogram measured by using (U, Pu)N as the working electrode, a steep rise of the positive current was observed at more positive potential than -0.4 V in analogy with the cyclic voltammogram measured by using UN as the working electrode. In addition, there were two anodic current waves in the voltammogram with (U, Pu)N, though the wave form was not clear. This indicates that UN and PuN would be dissolved independently irrespective of formation of the solid solution, (U, Pu)N.

The attractive concepts for Sodium-, lead-bismuth-, helium- and water-cooled FBRs have been created through using typical plant features and employing advanced technologies. Efforts on evaluating technological prospects of feasibility have been paid for these concepts. Also, it was comfirmed if these concepts satisfy design requierments of capability and performance presumed in the feasibilty study on commertialization of Fast Breeder Reactor Systems. As results, it was concluded that the selection of sodium-cooled reactor was most rational for practical use of FBR technologies in 2015.

For the purpose of realizing an evaluation beamline for characterizing soft X-ray optical elements in a wide wavelength range of 0.7-25 nm, we have designed and constructed a new type of monochromator that combined two types of Monk-Gillieson monochromators. One is a conventional type equipped with three varied-line-spacing plane gratings, allowing a choice of two included angles. The other is a new type that employs a scanning mechanism based on Surface Normal Rotation (SNR). The SNR scheme provides high throughput at short wavelengths and simple scanning mechanism by means of a grating rotation about its normal. The monochromator is operated in the SNR and conventional modes over the ranges of 0.7-2.0 nm and 2.0-25 nm, respectively. In this paper we describe the optical and mechanical designs of the monochromator, wavelength calibrations in the SNR mode, and preliminary experimental data, such as the transmittance of an Al filter at 0.8 nm and the total yield photoelectron measurement on a MgO powder in a wavelength rage of 0.7-2 nm.
