A Potts model with two kinds of local states is introduced and studied within the mean field theory using the replica method. The model includes frustration effects against the long-range ferromagnetic order. A transition line between two mixed glassy phases appears. The appearance of the two glassy phases is related to the existence of the two kinds of local states.

Ising spin glass on Bethe-like lattices is studied focusing on the replica symmetry breaking. To see the frustration effects of small loops, spin glass order parameter functions and the AT lines are obtained for the Bethe-like cactus lattices. They are compared with the results for the Bethe lattice without small loops to see the effects of the loops. Triangular, tetrahedral and square cactus lattices are studied. The slope of the spin glass order parameter function for a cactus lattice is smaller than the corresponding one for the Bethe lattice. The replica symmetry breaking region in fields for the cactus lattice is larger than that for the corresponding Bethe lattice except for the smallest number of connectivity of the loops in the triangular and tetrahedral cactus lattices. To obtain the results, an equation among quantities that are related to the spin glass order parameter is used. This equation is shown to be related to an equation derived without using replicas.

Loop effects in the Ising spin glass on the Bethe-like lattices

Equations for the spin glass order in the Ising spin glass model on the Bethe-like lattices with and without small loops are studied. For each lattice, equations are obtained by using and not using the replica method. Within the replica symmetric approximation, equations obtained by the two ways are shown to be identical. To see the effects of the small loops and the replica symmetry breaking, a spin glass order parameter is investigated as a function of the connectivity of the lattices close to the transition temperature. Replica symmetry breaking is enhanced by the existence of small loops.

The Ising spin glass model on Bethe-like lattices (cactus lattices) is studied using replicas in the presence of a magnetic field. Parisi's order parameter function and the de Almeida-Thouless (AT) line are obtained close to the spin glass transition temperature. The results are compared with those for the Bethe lattice to see the effects of loops. The slope of the order parameter function diminishes considerably for both lattices compared with that for the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick (SK) model. The loci of the AT line for the cactus lattices and the Bethe lattice are above and below that for the SK model, respectively.

Parisi function for the ising spin glass in cluster approximations

Yokota, Terufumi

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 310(2, Part2), p.e518 - e519, 2007/03

The Ising spin glass is investigated close to the spin glass transition temperature. Parisi's order parameter function and the de Almeida-Thouless (AT) line are obtained in various cluster approximations. A class of cluster approximations introduced by Baviera, Pasquini, and Serva, the Bethe approximation and cactus approximations are used to study effects of fluctuations on the replica symmetry breaking. Fluctuations seem to cause reduction in the slope of the order parameter function. The locus of the AT line for a cluster approximation changes from that for the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick (SK) model and the change seems to be affected by the existence of a loop in a cluster.

The Ising spin glass model in a magnetic field is studied within the Bethe and a related cluster approximations. Using replicas, spin glass order parameter function and the de Almeida-Thouless (AT) line are obtained close to the spin glass transition temperature. The results for the Bethe approximation deviate considerably from those for the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick (SK) model.

Yokota, Terufumi

Physics Letters A, 344(2-4), p.211 - 219, 2005/09

The infinite-range $$p$$-state Potts glass model is studied in the presence of a field. Stability of the replica symmetric solution for the longitudinal order parameter is investigated. Instability appears at higher temperature than the transverse freezing temperature for $$p> 3.2$$. Replica symmetry breaking pattern is obtained.
