Long-lived, highly-excited neutral hydrogen atoms are produced near the O 1s edge of the water molecule. This metastable yield has been studied, along with the kinetic energy of the particles. The excited particles also can decay via fluorescence to the ground state, and by lifetime-resolved detection of the fluorescence new information on the dissociation dynamics can be obtained.

The stability and collimatability of quasi-monoenergetic electron beam production in the self-injected laser-plasma acceleration regime are studied. The collimation of electron beam drived by terawatt femtosecond laser (4.5 TW, 40 fs) is measured at two species of gas material (Helium gasjet and Argon gasjet). We measured 3.2 mrad pointing stability and beam divergence of 11 mrad (r.m.s.) at Argon gasjet for 50 continuous shots. At such condition, the peak electron energy is 9.11.6 MeV. For Helium, the pointing stability is three times larger than that of Argon. It is considered that the laser channel formation is important role for stable electron beam generation.

Spin-Spin relaxation is measured in a heavy fermion system. From T-dependence of Gaussian and Loretzian parts, real part of general magnetic susceptibility is discussed.

Insulating cubic compound CaCuTi
O
(CCTO) has attracted much interest because of its giant change in the dielectric response with temperature. This compound possesses a low-frequency dielectric constant,
10
, which is only varying in the temperature range 100 - 600K. However, dielectric measurements indicated that the CCTO is electrically inhomogenious by analyzing its impedance. The inhomogenity may originated by grain and grain-boundary contributions. We performed synchrotron X-ray pair-distribution function (PDF) analysis in order to visualize this inhomogenity. The obtained PDF changed depending on the grain size. The PDF showed that the origin of huge dielectric constant is extrinsic Maxwell-Wagner type due to the sample inhomogenity.

We have investigated the magnetic and dielectric properties of electronic ferroelectric oxides RFeO
(R: rare earths) and their derivative materials. It was found that the magnetic transition temperature and the dielectric constant showed a possible relationship with electrical resistivity. In consideration of the mechanism of the ferroelectricity in RFe
O
, this result suggests that the magnetic and dielectric properties are likely rooted in the electron transfer at the Fe-site ions.

Antiferromagnet CePdAl
crystalizes in the tetragonal ZrNi
Al
-type structure, which is same as a recently discovered superconductor NpPd
Al
. The magnetic anisotropy along
axis of CePd
Al
is contrast to that of NpPd
Al
, We are now performing the NMR study for this compound in order to clarify the spin fluctuations and magnetic ordering. In the talk, we will present the recent NMR data, and discuss in detail.

Graphite-like B-C-N hybrids have been expected to control a wide variety of electronic properties from metal to insulator. However, single phase of B-C-N hybrids has not been synthesized so far. Since most B-C-N hybrids have complex structure including various unknown chemical bonding states, the local structures have not been clarified yet. We synthesized B-C-N hybrid thin films were synthesized by ion beam deposition of borazine on a graphite substrate, and characterized them by NEXAFS spectroscopy. B K-edge NEXAFS spectra showed some unknown * peaks below the
* peak of h-BN. These unknown
* peaks showed smaller polarization dependence than the
* peak of h-BN. This suggests that local structures which correspond to the unknown peaks have a distorted configuration. To interpret this distorted configuration, some model clusters are calculated by a molecular orbital theory, and the electronic structures are compared with NEXAFS.
