The optimal electric field that drives the open ozone to the ring counterpart was obtained using optimal control theory. The one-dimensional model potential constructed from the ground-state energy along the minimum-energy path was used in the calculation. It was revealed that the optimal field that yields a transition probability of almost unity needs to have a large amplitude just before the system goes over the barrier.
