and CO laser, on the basis of experience gained with a dual CO
system on JT-60U in which good reliability was confirmed for both interferometry and polarimetry operation. The performance of the dual CO
laser meets requirements for ITER (accuracy; 1%, time resolution; 1 ms).

The micro fission chamber has been installed inside toroidal field coils in JT-60U, in order to investigate the technical validity as neutron monitor in a magnetic field of about 2 T. Compared with the neutron yield measured by three U fission chambers which are used as neutron monitors in JT-60U, neutron yield measured by micro fission chamber has a good linearity with them. The influence of the magnetic field on the micro fission chamber has not been observed. However improper signals caused by plasma disruption and breakdown event of Neutral Beam Injection were observed, probably due to long wiring between the detector and the preamplifier. Therefore, by enhancement of noise protections, micro fission chambers can be available as neutron monitor for ITER.

Because the NDD is sensitive to neutrons and -rays too, the radiation shield has been set up around the NDD. Then energy distribution of neutral particles corresponding to injected neutral beam energy are successfully obtained. Also, enhance of neutral particle flux due to sawtooth oscillation and Alfven Eigenmode induced by N-NBI was observed. The performance of the NDD as CX neutral particle analyzer under the DD neutron filed was demonstrated on JT-60U.

Kinetic energy distributions of ions and neutrals in the plume were investigated as functions of processing parameters such as laser fluence and ambient gas pressure. Population distributions of metastable levels in the ablated atoms were also measured. These investigations provide useful data for the design of a new types of resonance photo-ionization ion source and also for high-resolution laser spectroscopy.
