Distribution and transport of Radiocesium-bearing microparticles from forest soil to river

This study aimed to better understand the distribution of radioactive-cesium rich microparticles (CsMPs) in the forest soil and their migration through rivers during rainfall event. For soil investigation, CsMPs might be distributed in the soil surface layer as in the case of RCs. This result suggested that CsMPs might be easily mobile due to soil erosion. CsMPs were detected only in the water samples collected during rainfall. This result indicate that CsMPs might move from land to the river due to soil erosion. There was a positive correlation between suspended solid and particulate Cs in the river, but there was no correlation for CsMPs. This suggested that the sources of particulate Cs and CsMPs that were distributed in the soil surface might be different during soil erosion.
