The process of the development of new technologies for high-efficient thin film space solar cells in Japan is reviewed from the starting point to installing these in spacecrafts and artificial satellites. Especially, a research plan of thin film space solar cell sheets based on multi junction solar cells using III-V compound semiconductors, such as technology for the sheet fabrication process, proton and electron irradiation experiments for radiation resistant technology, and design and fabrication of panel with light weight is introduced.
