Nine years have been passed since the Fukushima-Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (1F) accident happened. The decommissioning activities are still in the preliminary stage. Currently, the damaged plants are stable and under control. Huge amount of radioactive waste are treated and stored safely. The 1F decommissioning and waste management will be really challenging projects. For example, we still do not know the condition of the damaged core, that is, we are under Known Unknowns, or Unknown Unknowns, pessimistically. 1F Decommissioning is the one of the most challenging Unknown-Unknowns. No human beings experienced such kinds of challenging project. Lots of novel idea will be needed to proceed the activities. Challenge from Young Nuclear knowledge will be strongly expected.
