Trial of electron yield method on aqueous solution surface by tender X-ray

Tanida, Hajime

Advances in X-Ray Chemical Analysis, Japan, 55, p.145 - 152, 2024/03

In order to selectively observe the hydration structure of chemical species such as phosphorus, sulfur, and chlorine at the aqueous solution surface, we attempted to develop an X-ray absorption method using the surface sensitive electron yield method. In particular, we aimed to detect the concentration of chemical species at the surface in the presence of surfactants and their concentration and hydration structure changes. We developed a cell that can irradiate tender X-rays to the aqueous solution surface and detect electrons emitted from the surface, and tried measurements, but as a result, we could not successfully measure the surface. The development is recorded here.
