In our laboratory in JAEA, Tannics has been used for uranium recovery from nitric acid medium which has been generated from reprocessing technology developments, and the adsorbents loading uranium and nitric acid ions has been accumulating inside the laboratory. Our previous study has shown subcritical water treatment is effective to decompose organic compounds. The technology utilizes dissolution of organic compounds into subcritical water and chemical reactions with chemically activated species, and the technology is promising also for treatment of the spent Tannics. In this study, applicability of the subcritical water treatment for the spent Tannics decomposition was experimentally examined.
