The spin and parity of excited states can be determined by measuring the circular polarization from polarized neutron capture reactions. Furthermore, the -ray circular polarization in a neutron capture resonance is crucial for studying the enhancement effect of parity nonconservation in compound nuclei. The -ray circular polarization can be measured using a polarimeter based on magnetic Compton scattering. A polarimeter was constructed, and its performance indicators were evaluated using a circularly polarized -ray beam. Furthermore, as a demonstration, the -ray circular polarization was measured in S(n,)S reactions with polarized neutrons.

被引用回数:0 パーセンタイル:0.00(Physics, Nuclear)Neutron transmission experiments can offer a new type of highly sensitive search for time-reversal invariance violating (TRIV) effects in nucleon-nucleon interactions via the same enhancement mechanism observed for large parity violating (PV) effects in neutron-induced compound nuclear processes. In these compound processes, the TRIV cross-section is given as the product of the PV cross-section, a spin-factor , and a ratio of TRIV and PV matrix elements. We determined to be 0.59 0.05 for La+n using both (n, ) spectroscopy and (+) transmission. This result quantifies for the first time the high sensitivity of the La 0.75 eV -wave resonance in a future search for -odd/-odd interactions in (+) forward transmission.

被引用回数:0 パーセンタイル:0.00(Physics, Nuclear)We measured the spin dependence in a neutron-induced p-wave resonance by using a polarized epithermal neutron beam and a polarized nuclear target. Our study focuses on the 0.75 eV -wave resonance state of La+n, where largely enhanced parity violation has been observed. We determined the partial neutron width of the -wave resonance by measuring the spin dependence of the neutron absorption cross section between polarized La and polarized neutrons. Our findings serve as a foundation for the quantitative study of the enhancement effect of the discrete symmetry violations caused by mixing between partial amplitudes in the compound nuclei.

被引用回数:6 パーセンタイル:64.51(Physics, Nuclear)Neutron energy-dependent angular distributions were observed for individual rays from the 0.74 eV -wave resonance of La+ to several lower excited states of La. The -ray signals were analyzed in a two dimensional histogram of the -ray energy, measured with distributed germanium detectors, and neutron energy, determined with the time-of-flight of pulsed neutrons, to identify the neutron energy dependence of the angular distribution for each individual rays. The angular distribution was also found for a photopeak accompanied with a faint -wave resonance component in the neutron energy spectrum. Our results can be interpreted as interference between - and -wave amplitudes which may be used to study discrete symmetries of fundamental interactions.

The large enhancement of parity-violation of the weak interaction was found in nuclear reactions for several nuclei. The enhancement is explained as the mixing of parity-unfavored partial amplitudes in the entrance channel of the compound sates, s-p mixing. It is proposed that the time-reversal symmetry violation is also enhanced in compound nuclei by the same mechanism. We are preparing the time-reversal violation search based on this new approach. The time-reversal violation can be obtained by measuring the neutron spin behavior in compound nuclei using polarized neutron beam and polarized nuclear target. In parallel with the development of these instruments, we conduct precise measurements of compound nuclear reactions in J-PARC MLF. The enhancement factor of time-reversal violation can be estimated by measuring the angular correlation terms of (n,) reactions according to the s-p mixing theory. We have measured the several correlation terms for several nuclei, such as La, Sn, and Xe, which are candidates of the target nuclei in the time-reversal violation search. Furthermore, we have already started the experiments with the polarized neutron beam and the polarized target. In this presentation, we will introduce the current status of the preparation for the search of time-reversal violation.
