Ricou and Vives' probe and Von Weissenfluh's probe are famous instrumentations using a permanent magnet. However, sensitivity and measurement volume of the probes show unexpected variation since demagnetization of the magnet is occurred by temperature increase up to the Curie temperature. In this study, electromagnetic probe incorporating a miniature electromagnet was newly developed to overcome such unexpected variation. The diameter and the length of the sensor was 6 mm and 155 mm, respectively. The sensitivity and the measurement volume of the probe were assessed by measurement of local velocity of flowing mercury in a square channel. To clarify the validity for the measured velocity profiles, numerical velocity profiles were calculated and compared with experiment. And the validity for the measured velocity profiles were confirmed by calculated result.

Our results show that the decay width of is the largest one, which is just the experimental observation channel. Our theoretical total strong and radiative widths are in favor of the as a dominated bound state. Our calculation is cutoff-independent and without prior isospin assignment. The absolute partial widths and ratios of the different decay channels can be used to test the structure of state when the updated experimental results are available.

High Temperature engineering Test Reactor (HTTR) has the reactivity control system which is accompanied with the Reserved Shutdown System (RSS). The RSS consists of BC/C pellets, guide tube, electric plug, motor which contains brake and reducer, and so on. In accidents when the control rods cannot be inserted, an electric plug is pulled out by motor and the BC/C pellets fall into the core by gravity. It was revealed that the motor in the RSS drive mechanism did not work as the result of pre-start up checks as described followings: (1) The oil which was separated from a grease of motor reducer flowed down from gap of oil seal, (2) the separated oil penetrated into the brake, (3) the penetrated oil was mixed with abrasion powder released from brake disk, finally, (4) the adhesive mixture blocked the rotation of the motor. A new evaluation method was proposed to detect a sign of the motor sticking. Through the overhaul inspection of all RSS drive mechanisms of HTTR, it was revealed that the proposed method was effective to evaluate the integrity of the RSS drive mechanism.

They are generated with high-intensity proton beam supplied through a 3-GeV proton beam transport (3NBT) line. Its beam optics and components were designed to transport the proton beam of large emittance with extremely low loss rate. The 3NBT accommodates an intermediate target that causes large beam loss. The scheme of the cascade target system was carefully devised to overcome difficulties due to high radiation.

Electromagnetic effect on ion temperature gradient driven turbulence and zonal flow generated from the turbulence is investigated based on global electromagnetic Landau fluid simulations in tokamak plasmas. Turbulent transport decreases by increasing beta in a low beta regime. Two types of zonal flow are observed. One is almost stationary flow formed in a low safety factor (q) region, which is weaker at higher beta. The other is flow oscillating coherently at the geodesic acoustic mode (GAM) frequency.

As one of the R&D of ITER. a hydraulic performance of NbAl insert coil was measured and compared with other NbSn conductors. It seems that a longer twist pitch will promote a triangle helium flow space among 4th twist stage cables, jacket and center channel and contribute reduction of pressure drop. Under 500 kN/m of the electromagnetic force, the pressure drop of the NbAl insert decreased by approximately 5%. NbAl conductor indicated quit rigid characteristic under the electromagnetic force and suitable for future magnet with higher magnetic field and current.

The test of the ITER Central Solenoid (CS) model coil, CS and NbAl inserts was carried. The AC loss measurement is one of the most important tests to determine coil performance. The coupling losses of CS and NbAl inserts were measured by calorimetric and magnetization methods, respectively. Both coils had coupling losses with many coupling time constant, and induced circulation currents were observed by voltage taps and hall sensors. Coupling losses decreased with exponential decay constants since the electromagnetic force broke weak sinter among the strands. The gap, created between the cable and the conduit by electromagnetic force, is dependent on the pressure drop of the coolant that flows in the conductor. Our analysis shows that the exponential decay constant of coupling losses is dependent on the gap size. If we can evaluate this exponential decay constant and apply the electromagnetic force that corresponds for the exponential decay constant to the conductor before the regular operation, we can use coils of the condition that coupling losses decrease on the operation.
