To secure the seismic safety of the thin-walled mechanical components and piping under a severe design earthquake level, employing a three-dimensional (3D) seismic isolation system has been planned in a sodium-cooled fast reactor. The development results of the 3D isolation system have been reported in previous papers so far. Its update is reported in Part 7 to Part 9. Part 7 describes the overview of the development, the test plan of the isolation system in the assembled state of each element, and the performance of individual isolation elements. In part 8, the performance of the isolation device that each element was assembled into was investigated through loading tests. Part 9 reports analytical studies by an analysis model validated based on the insight of the test results.

Horizontal seismic isolation systems have been studied for Sodium-Cooled Fast Reactors to improve their seismic resistance. However, challenges arise in reducing seismic forces not only in the horizontal direction but also in the vertical direction. The authors have developed a new three-dimensional seismic isolation system to address this issue. A 1/2-scale test specimen was fabricated, and the force-displacement relationships were examined using static loading tests with a maximum axial force of 8000 kN to evaluate the feasibility of this design. Moreover, a horizontal oil damper was fabricated as a horizontal damping element, and its damping force was assessed through excitation tests with a maximum velocity of 2.7 m/s. This paper reports the findings of these tests.

Transmutation Physics Experimental Facility (TEF-P) planned in the J-PARC project uses minor actinide (MA) fuels in the experiments. These MA fuels are highly-radioactive, so the fuel handling equipment in TEF-P is necessary to be designed as remote-handling system. This report summarizes fabrication and test results of the testing equipment for fuel loading that is one of components of the testing equipment for remote-handling of MA fuels. The testing equipment which had a remote-handling system for fuel loading was fabricated. And the test in combination with the mock-up core was performed. Through the test, it was confirmed to load/take the dummy fuel pin to/from the mock-up core without failure. It was shown that the concept design of the fuel loading equipment of TEF-P was reasonable.

Irradiation assisted stress corrosion cracking (IASCC) is one of the critical concerns when stainless steel components have been in service in light water reactors (LWRs) for a long period. In the research field of IASCC, mainly PIEs for irradiated materials have been carried out, because there are many difficulties on SCC tests under neutron irradiation. Hence as a part of the key techniques for in-pile SCC tests, we have embarked on a development of the test technique to obtain information concerning effects of applied stress level, water chemistry, irradiation conditions, etc. In this paper, we describe the developed several techniques, especially control of loading on specimens, monitoring technique of crack propagation and so on, and the present status of in-pile IASCC growth tests using pre-irradiated materials at JMTR.

The seismic integrity of sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) designs in nuclear power plants is of paramount importance. Based on the static loading test, this study investigates the force-displacement relationship and load transference in a three-dimensional seismic isolation system that is envisaged for use in reactor buildings. In SFR designs, the necessity for thin-walled structures to maintain high-temperature structure integrity can unintentionally compromise the seismic design. Consequently, addressing horizontal and vertical seismic forces become vital for ensuring seismic resilience. Currently, there are no specific codes or standards governing the integration of Three-dimensional seismic isolation systems into nuclear reactor buildings. However, current guidelines for the design of horizontal seismic isolation systems emphasize the necessity to clarify the force-displacement relationship and load transfer under conditions of superimposed horizontal and vertical loads. This study involves static loading tests performed on a half-scale specimen, which is subjected to horizontal and vertical loads exceeding the design basis ground motions for the SFR. The findings affirm that the system's horizontal supporting function maintains the segregation of horizontal and vertical load transference, even under seismic loads that exceed the design basis ground motions.
