The raw materials were mixed with silicon powder as a foaming agent. Geopolymer foams with open porosities as high as 81% were obtained by a water bath treatment before pouring the slurry into the mold. The increase in the open porosity of geopolymer foam was observed by an increase in the water bath treatment time. It was thought that the viscosity of slurry increase induced the pores trapped inside the geopolymer foam and connected to form millimeter-sized and open pores. It was concluded that a simple method with a foaming agent and a water bath treatment to prepare geopolymer foams with high open porosity was developed.

Carbon alloy catalysts (CACs) are one of promising candidates for platinum-substitute cathode catalysts for polymer electrolyte fuel cells. We have investigated possible mechanisms of oxygen reduction reactions (ORRs) for CACs via first-principles-based molecular dynamics simulations. In this contribution, we review possible ORRs at likely catalytic sites of CACs suggested from our simulations.

lattice. Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) showed that the optical absorption edge of the C-doped anatase TiO
shifted to lower energy compared with that of pure anatase TiO
. The decomposition of methylene blue (MB) adsorbed on the C-doped sample was observed under a visible light range of 420-500 nm. We conclude that substitution of C for O in the TiO
leads to a photocatalytic decomposition of MB under visible light irradiation.

/TiN as the buffer layers by pulsed laser deposition technique under an oxygen gas supply. The characterization of the epitaxial TiO
-anatase film was performed using the X-ray diffraction method. The crystallographic relationships between the TiO
-anatase film and SrTiO
/TiN buffer layers were analyzed by the
