An interaction between K and nucleus is studied by using the X-ray from the kaonic atoms for a long time. However, it is difficult to determine the K-nucleus interaction by using only kaonic-atoms data because the value of shift and width of the X-ray depend not only the potential depth but also the type of theoretical model. Thus, we study the -nucleus interaction by comparing an observed missing-mass spectrum of the C(K, p) reaction with the DWIA calculation. Such a study has already reported from KEK-E548 experiment. However, their experiment is not enough to determine these interaction because they were pointed out about the experimental condition. Thus, we performed the further experiment to take the real spectrum of C(K, p) reaction at J-PARC.

The valence of Am in the mixed oxide was close to that of AmO and the valence of U in the mixed oxide was pentavalent. The electronic structure of AmO was different from that of AmO, particularly just above the Fermi level. In addition, the electronic states of Am and U in the mixed oxide were similar to those of trivalent Am and pentavalent U oxides. These electronic states reflected the high oxygen potential of AmO and the heightened oxygen potential resulting from the addition of Am to UO and also suggested the occurrence of charge transfer from Am to U in the solid solution process.

Melting, generating and moving of bubbles, condensation and sedimentation of ruthenium element were observed dynamically in continuous 12-bit gray-scale images from the CCD camera. X-ray intensity was obtained easily by digitizing gray-scale values in the image. The existence of ruthenium element is emphasized as a black color in the CCD image at X-ray energy higher than the Ru K-absorption edge. Position sensitive imaging X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) measurement was also performed to clarify the chemical state of ruthenium element in the melt.

The parity quantum numbers of the excited dipole states were determined by the intensity asymmetry of resonantly scattered -rays with respect to the polarization plane of the incident photon beam. While the summed magnetic dipole () strength was determined as at excitation energies between 7 and 10 MeV, the summed electric dipole () strength below 10 MeV was obtained as . The observed strength was compared with shell-model predictions in the -shell using the GXPF1J and KB3G effective interactions. In addition, the strength was compared with random-phase approximation calculations with the Skyrme interaction.

Distribution and the chemical state of Ru element in the simulated high-level waste glass were examined by using the synchrotron radiation based X-ray imaging technique. In this technique, a direct X-ray CCD camera is used in place of an ion chamber. Position sensitive X-ray absorption spectra were obtained by analyzing gray scale in images of the X-ray CCD camera. At first, we measured a test sample containing RuO and Ru metal powder. We successfully obtained information on the Ru distribution in the sample. In addition, the chemical state (oxide or metal ?) of each small Ru-rich spot was evaluated by the corresponding position sensitive XAFS spectrum. The imaging XAFS technique was applied to some simulated high-level waste glass samples. The Ru distribution of the glass sample and their chemical state were confirmed by image analyses. It can be seen that Ru element scattered in the glass sample exists as oxide RuO.

La is synthesized by the process. If a 1 excited state exists at energy lower than 72 keV, the 1 state may be a unstable isomer and La synthesized by the process is destroyed via the isomer. Recently, Byelikov et al. have measured Gamow-Teller strength distributions in La. It has been presented that this experiment shows that the existence of a low-energy 1 state in La is extremely unlikely. Our calculated result is consistent with their result and we conclude that there is no evidence that suggests the existence of the 1 isomer in La.

The data resolve an giant resonance into at least seven, possibly eight, discrete transitions at excitation energies between 7.1 and 7.4 MeV below the neutron separation energy. The measured strength in this region is found to be larger than the previous report. The experimental results are compared with an estimation of self-consistent random phase approximation using a semi-realistic interaction.

A new isomer with has been identified at an excitation energy of MeV. The half-life was determined as ns. The extracted value is much smaller than those in Te and Xe. This hindrance is investigated by a shell model calculation.

The halflife of the 2 state at 84~keV was obtained as 7.84(8)~ns, corresponding to the value of 0.00777(8)~. A shell model calculation with a minimum model space of gives a good prediction of this value by using experimental g-factors of neighboring nuclei. This small value can be explained by a shell model calculation with the model space.
