For the purpose to understand the relationship between characteristic of mass transport and characteristic of fracture, the following experiments were carried out using core sample, which was sampled from the -300 m Stage. This paper compiled the results of these experiment. (1) Diffusion experiments of Cs, Sr, I and uranin in granite samples (2) Sorption experiments of Cs and Sr on crushed granite (3) Measurement of pore physicality by Mercury Intrusion and water saturation

Colloids may enhance the transport of radionuclides in groundwater in the radioactive waste repository. To evaluate the effect of colloids on the radionuclide transport through a fracture in a rock, radionuclide transport was simulated by applying the parallel plane model. In this model, colloid and radionuclide transport is influenced by the advection/dispersion within the fracture flow. Radionuclides diffuse into the rock matrix infinitely. Radionuclide sorption on the pore surfaces of the matrix (distribution coefficient Kd) is assumed. Pseudocolloids are generated by radionuclide sorption on the colloids existing in the groundwater (distribution coeficient Kd). However, matrix diffusion of colloid and colloidal filtration on the fracture surface are not taken into account conservatively. Colloids and radionuclides sorption onto the fracture fillongs is also conservatively neglected because of the lack of data. From the viewpoint of the radionuclide inventory and the radiological impact, eighteen important radionuclides (Se, Zr, Nb, Tc, Pd, Sn, Cs, Sm, Pb, Ra, Ac, Th, Pa, U, Np, Pu, Am and Cm) were considered for the estimation of radionuclide sorption (Kd and Kd). Bentonite colloids and a fractured granite were assumed as the colloids existing in the groundwater and geological media respectively. Bentonite colloid might be generated by erosion/extrusion from engineered barrier of repository and simulates natural clay colloids. Some data were needed to carry out the simulation.
