Background: In Japan, new regulations that revise the dose limit for the lens of the eye (the lens), operational quantities, and measurement positions for the lens dose were enforced in April 2021. Based on the international safety standards, national guidelines, the results of the Radiation Safety Research Promotion Fund of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority, and other studies, the Working Group of Radiation Protection Standardization Committee, the Japan Health Physics Society (JHPS) developed a guideline for radiation dose monitoring for the lens. Materials and Methods: The Working Group of the JHPS discussed the criteria of non-uniform exposure and the management criteria set to not exceed the dose limit for the lens. Results and Discussion: In July 2020, the JHPS guideline was published. The guideline consists of three parts: main text, explanations, and 26 questions. In the questions, the corresponding answers were prepared, and specific examples were provided to enable similar cases to be addressed. Conclusion: With the development of guideline on radiation dose monitoring of the lens, radiation managers and workers will be able to smoothly comply with revised regulations and optimise radiation protection.

Tokamak research will focus on steady state high( = 3.5-5.5) research on JT-60SA (formerly NCT) in support of ITER and DEMO. JT-60SA will also serve as the Satellite Tokamak under the JA-EU Broader Approach framework. ST research has been reorganized as the All-Japan ST Research Program, aiming for creative and innovative research focused on ultra-high and ultra-long pulse regimes. Results of plasma start-up, RF heating, and plasma merging reconnection experiments are summarized. Prospects of contribution of low aspect ratio tokamaks to fusion energy development, are presented.

Vortex arrangements are almost the same just below Tc, indicating the existence of strong pinning centers in the sample. The origin of the strong pinning centers comes from the morphological inhomogeneity on the surface.

The transient current was measured using the single ion hit transient ion beam induced current (TIBIC) system at TIARA. As the results, peak intensity of transient current induded by ion irradiation increased and falltime decreased with increasing applied bias. By the integration of transient current, the charge collection was estimated. It was found that charges generated in deeper region beyond the depletion layer can be collected by the funneling effect.

The Horonobe underground research project has been carried out by Japan Nuclear Cycle Development Institute to study the geological environment of sedimentary rocks in deep underground. The objectives of this study are to develop a geological environment model, which incorporate current findings and latest data obtained through the geological, geophysical, and borehole investigations at Horonobe site, and to predict the hydrological and geochemical impacts caused by the URL shaft excavation to the surrounding area.
