Center for Computational Science & e-Systems of Japan Atomic Energy Agency, provides an environment for using PCs with thin client systems to our organization's officers, operation management organization, common business organization, base management department, and offices for each research and development department. Supports the efficient and smooth implementation of our decision-making, core operations and related tasks. This report is the characteristics and construction policy (basic requirements) of the thin client system and hardware newly obtained in the subsequent operation, which were arranged and examined on the introduction of the existing thin client system updated in October 2017. It is a summary of the results, findings, etc. of the occupied thin client system.

Seismic isolation design for JSFR

This paper describes the seismic design of JSFR, which includes the seismic condition, the seismic isolation system and the seismic evaluation of primary component. JSFR employs a seismic isolation system to mitigate the earthquake force. The design seismic loading is made more severe than ever since Niigata-ken Chuetsu-oki Earthquake in 2007. The earthquake force loaded on the primary components has to be mitigated more than that of the previous seismic isolation system. We examined the advanced seismic isolation system by optimizing the performance of the previous seismic isolation system considering the natural frequency of the primary components. The advanced seismic isolation system for SFR was adopted laminated rubber bearings which are thicker than that of the previous, as well as oil dampers. The seismic evaluation of nuclear reactor components under applying the advanced seismic isolation system was performed; the performance of the system was confirmed.

Transverse momentum distributions and yields for $$pi^{pm}, K^{pm}, p$$, and $$bar{p}$$ in $$p + p$$ collisions at $$sqrt{s}$$ = 200 and 62.4 GeV at midrapidity are measured by the PHENIX experiment at the RHIC. We present the inverse slope parameter, mean transverse momentum, and yield per unit rapidity at each energy, and compare them to other measurements at different $$sqrt{s}$$ collisions. We also present the scaling properties such as $$m_T$$ and $$x_T$$ scaling and discuss the mechanism of the particle production in $$p + p$$ collisions. The measured spectra are compared to next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations.

Measurements of electrons from the decay of open-heavy-flavor mesons have shown that the yields are suppressed in Au+Au collisions compared to expectations from binary-scaled $$p+p$$ collisions. Here we extend these studies to two particle correlations where one particle is an electron from the decay of a heavy flavor meson and the other is a charged hadron from either the decay of the heavy meson or from jet fragmentation. These measurements provide more detailed information about the interaction between heavy quarks and the quark-gluon matter. We find the away-side-jet shape and yield to be modified in Au+Au collisions compared to $$p+p$$ collisions.

Study of uranium particle fuel fabrication with the external gelation process with the vibration dropping Method

The external gelation process is one of the candidates of MOX particle fuel fabrication for advanced recycle system. It was necessary to perform preliminary fuel fabrication with uranium before starting MOX tests. As the result of the preliminary examination, Basics conditions of the fabrication were obtained: (1)Optimized uranyl nitrate solution and PVA solution, as raw materials were prepared. (2)The frequency of vibration and the amount of flow were obtained with optimized broth (mixture) in the vibration dropping process. (3)The influence of composition of broth and concentration of ammonia solution on gelation process was obtained. (4)Impurities after aging, washing and drying spHerical gel were surveyed, (5)The spherical gel were calcined to oxide particles and the particles were characterized by TG-DTA, therefore it is certain that outlook on the sintered particles as final products is very clear. On the top of that, there were no fatal technicalities of the external gelation process through material balance and a diameter dispersion of spherical gel and oxide particles. It is necessary to perform uranium examination to solve some new problems, for instant, surface crack of spherical gel. Although almost of all the preparations are completed and fabrication examination of MOX particles with vibration dropping equipment are ready for starting.
