Radioactive solid wastes generated by Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station disaster may contain high levels of salt from the tsunami and seawater deliberately released into the area. It is assumed that polyvinyl chloride (PVC) products may be used for decommissioning work and for containment of radioactive wastes in the future. Among the method of handling them, incineration is one method that needs to be investigated as it is good method for reduction and stabilization of wastes. But in order to dispose of Trans-Uranic (TRU) solid waste containing chlorides, it is necessary to select the structure and materials of the facility based on the information such as the movement of nuclides and chlorides in the waste gas treating system and the corrosion of equipment due to chlorides. Therefore, we decided to get various data necessary to design a study of the incineration facilities. And we decided to examine the transfer behavior of chlorides to the waste gas treatment system, the corrosion-resistance of materials in the incineration facilities, and the distribution survey of plutonium in them obtained using the Plutonium-contaminated Waste Treatment Facility (PWTF), Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories, which is a unique incinerating facility in Japan. This report describes the transfer behavior of chlorides in the waste gas treatment system, the evaluation of corrosion-resistance materials and the distribution survey of plutonium in the incineration facilities obtained by these tests using the Plutonium-contaminated Waste Treatment Facility, Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories.

The total flux of mesozooplankton swimmers varied between 0 and 11.1 individuals m-2 d-1, with a mean of 3.1 individuals m-2 d-1 during the sampling period. Among the Copepoda, Neocalanus cristatus was the most dominant taxon. The species composition of the swimmers closely reflected the mid-depth mesozooplankton of the Oyashio region. The fluxes of Neocalanus species reflected ontogenetic vertical migration, but may have been overestimates of active fluxes if they included dormant individuals that accidentally entered the sediment trap.

The positive effect of the BaSnO doping on the hybrid flux pinning stands out for the critical current density around in high magnetic field and/or inclined magnetic field off the -axis, whereas there is little difference in the at among the same growth temperature samples for low magnetic field. In the case of the in-plane distributed BaSnO nano-dots, the Jc around is remarkably enhanced, whereas there is a detrimental effect on the Jc around . These imply that the tuning of 3D-PCs is one of the keys to improve the at all magnetic field orientations for the hybrid flux pinning.

The world's first microbeam focusing technology for heavy ions of hundreds MeV accelerated by a cyclotron has been developed at the TIARA facility in the Takasaki Advanced Radiation Research Institute of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency. The technology enables us to form a microbeam of less than 1 m in diameter and to shoot a specified point on a target by one ion (single-ion hit) with spatial accuracy of microbeam size. In the course of the development, a cyclotron technology to accelerate a small energy-spread beam of hundres MeV, which is necessary for focusing to 1 m, has been developed as well as a beam focusing apparatus, beam size measurement and so forth based on the several-MeV microbeam/single-ion hit system of the TIARA electrostatic accelerators. Applicability of the technologies was examined by actual use in irradiation experiment and the result were fed back to them. This paper reports the process and the results of the development over ten years.

The effect of phosphorous on intergranular corrosion of type 310 stainless steel at transpassive potential was investigated using phosphorous added ultra high purity type 310 stainless steel. Intergranular corrosion depth was measured by scanning electron microscopic observation. Grain boundaries were observed using three dimensional atom probe. Intergranular corrosion was observed on phosphorous added stainless steel. The sample heat treated at 600C showed severe integranular corrosion morphology. Observation by three dimensional atom probe revealed that grain boundary with high dissolution rate had segregated zone of chromium and phosphorous about 5nm in width, on the other hand, grain boundary with low dissolution rate had no segregated zone. From these results, it is suggested that intergranular corrosion of phosphorous added type 310 stainless steel at transpassive potential is affected by segregation of phosphorous and chromium along grain boundaries.

From numerical simulations of the amplification processes of high-order harmonic pulses in the undulator, optimum conditions of the electron bunch duration interacting with the high-order harmonic pulses were investigated for generating full-coherent and intense pulses in the extreme ultraviolet wavelength region.

Diamond is interested by many researchers as an excellent candidate material with advantages in the radiation-hardness. For the time-resolved detection of single-ions with several hundred MeV, transmission E detector using thin film CVD diamond is now under investigation for the futuristic utilization in a microbeam line of the AVF cyclotron at JAEA/Takasaki TIARA facility as replacing materials of the beam extraction window. In this research, a Single Crystalline (SC) 50 m thick CVD diamond film ion detector was fabricated for the investigation of the responses and radiation hardness under the focused ion microbeam irradiation. Transient Ion Beam Induced Current (TIBIC) experiment was executed by single hit irradiation of 15 MeV O scanning area of 50 m and the transient signals with time width of several nano-secounds were consecutively recorded by a high speed (15 GHz) Digital Storage Oscilloscope during the irradiation. The decreases in the individual pulse height was observed by increasing the total amount of the ion dose irradiated in the focused area. These changes were recovered in temporal conversion of applied bias voltages thus trend of decrease were able to be controlled by changing bias settings and irradiation conditions during the experiments.
