Effect of filamentous fungi on migration of radioactive Cs; Effect of presence of mineral

Onuki, Toshihiko; Sakamoto, Fuminori; Kozai, Naofumi; Shiina, Kazuhiro; Tanaka, Kenji; Namekawa, Jun

no journal, ,

Effect of the presence of minerals on the accumulation of radioactive Cs by hyphae of fungi has been studied. In the presence of mineral, radioactivity in the hyphae was less than that without mineral. This result indicates that presence of minerals inhibits the transportation of radioactive Cs from medium to the hyphae.

Oral presentation

Remediation of contaminated forest by spent mushroom bed

Onuki, Toshihiko; Sakamoto, Fuminori; Kozai, Naofumi; Tanaka, Kenji; Namekawa, Jun; Yamasaki, Shinya*

no journal, ,

We used the spent mushroom bed, which is kinds of waste after growing edible mushrooms, for the in-situ remediation experiments in Fukushima. The results showed that the spent bed accumulates radioactive Cs not only from the contaminated soil and litter, but from throughfall.

Oral presentation

Accumulation of radioactive cesium by spent mushroom substrate in forest system

Onuki, Toshihiko; Sakamoto, Fuminori; Kozai, Naofumi; Tanaka, Kenji; Namekawa, Jun; Yamasaki, Shinya*

no journal, ,

We used the spent mushroom substrata (SMS) which is kinds of waste after growing edible mushrooms for the in-situ remediation experiments in Fukushima. We found that the SMS accumulates radioactive Cs not only from the contaminated soil and litter, but from through fall.

Oral presentation

Identification of yeast proteins expressed under radioactive cesium existence

Sakamoto, Fuminori; Kozai, Naofumi; Onuki, Toshihiko; Tanaka, Kenji

no journal, ,

We analyzed the yeast proteins expressed under the presence of Cs-137 by two dimensional electrophoresis to elucidate the mechanism of accumulation of radiocesium by microbes. We specified two proteins expressed specifically, two other proteins increased more, and two proteins decreased more under the condition. We did not observe any change of the protein expression under absence of Cs-137 and the presence of stable cesium isotope, Cs-133. These results indicate that different metabolic systems of yeast function under the above two conditions.
