There are a number of studies on heteroepitaxy of -FeSi film on Si. However, growth experiments of -FeSi film on single crystalline -FeSi substrate have not been investigated yet. Recently, single crystalline -FeSi with large growth facets by solution growth method using Ga solvent. By obtaining a smooth surface on the substrate, we have succeeded in growing -FeSi film on -FeSi(110) substrate using molecular-beam epitaxy.

A high purity FeSi source avoided a contamination of Cu and W metals was synthesized by melting a high purity Fe (5N) and Si (5N-up) in a quartz ampoule. The -FeSi crystals grown using the high purity FeSi and Zn solvent showed n-type conduction, whereas those grown using the arc-melted FeSi showed p-type. From the SIMS analysis of the grown crystals, we found that dominant impurity concentrations in the p-type crystals were higher than those in the n-type ones.

In spent fuel reprocessing, distribution behavior of technetium in tri- butyl phosphate (TBP) extraction system is a very complicated. Especially, in the presence of metallic ions, i.e., U(VI), Pu(IV)and Zr(IV)in the TBP extraction system, the extraction of technetium is enhanced by the co- extraction with U, Pu and Zr. The mechanism of co-extraction mechanism of technetium is performed by exchange with nitric acid ion and per-technetate ion. In this research, we perform the structural analysis of technetium complexes in ethanol solution compared with rhenium and manganese complexes by EXAFS. Furthermore we measured some organic complexes and co-extracted complexes of technetium with uranium and zirconium extracted by TBP as compared with those of rhenium.

We report a nuclear demagnetization ultra-low temperature stage, which is under construction for the neutron scattering experiments below 1 mK. This stage will be used for the study of heavy fermion nature, or multiple ordering in f electron compounds.

We will report for the recent development of the ultra-low temperature neutron scattering experiments on the beam port, "multi-purpose thermal neutron application and science" (MUSASI) in JRR-3. This beam port provides an opportunity for difficult or time consuming experiments such as neutron scattering at ultra-low temperature. A nuclear demagnetization stage is now under construction for this purpose. We briefly present the recent situation and future of our study on f electron compounds.
