As an indicator of wettability, the contact angle between a selective laser melting (SLM) baseplate and the molten Ti was measured by synchrotron X-rays at 30 keV during laser irradiation. As the baseplate temperature increased, the contact angle decreased, down to 28 degrees at a baseplate temperature of 500C. Based on this result, the influence of wettability of a Ti plate fabricated by SLM in a vacuum was investigated. It was revealed that the improvement of wettability by preheating suppressed sputtering generation, and a surface having a small surface roughness was fabricated by SLM in a vacuum.

The life span was 35 d, deposited eggs required 5.7 d to hatch, and animals began to deposit eggs 9 d after hatching. The reared individuals of this species had an anhydrobiotic capacity throughout their life cycle in egg, juvenile, and adult stages. Furthermore, the reared adults in an anhydrobiotic state were tolerant of temperatures of 90C and -196C and exposure to 99.8% acetonitrile or irradiation with 4000 Gy He ions. Based on their life history traits and tolerance to extreme stresses, might be a suitable model for astrobiological studies of multicellular organisms.

We have previously proposed the method for designing feedforward element of discrete-time 2DOF controller to realize a desired output response (reference response characteristics). In the method, the feedforward element is designed in the least square sense by solving a linear equation expressing the relation between the output sequence and the design parameter of feedforward element. Since this method is based on the controller parameterized by stable rational function, it is possible to realize desired reference response characteristics approximately even for the non-minimum phase plant by setting the rational function parameter to the polynomial. In this report, the design result by regularized least square solution is presented to suppress the manipulated variable response oscillation especially caused in the case for the non-minimum phase plant.

This paper presents a method of designing a feedforward element of 2DOF controller based on the approximation in time domain. Since we deal with the discrete-time 2DOF controller parameterized with rational stable function, the relation of the controller parameter and output sequence is expressed in the form of simple linear equation, through which the feedforward element of 2DOF controller can be designed. In addition, we also propose a controller parameter tuning method to enhance the reference response characteristics of control system by applying the iterative solution commonly utilized in numerical calculation. The results of the numerical simulation show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

We collected some kinds of tardigrade to develop multi-cellular model oraganism for extremotolerant. Among four kinds of collected tardigrade, we found that a tardigrade at Sapporo-city feeded and could breed. The life-time of in an artificial culture condition is about 35 days and 5.7 days for hatching. During the whole life-time, one animal laids 8 eggs. In addition, it was observed that could enter an ametabolic dry state called anhydrobiosis in all stages of life-time. Furthermore, we observed a high surviving-rate even if exposed in various kinds of extreme environments.

We report the first successful rearing of the herbivorous tardigrade, , by supplying a green alga as a food. The reared individuals of this species had an anhydrobiotic capacity throughout their life cycle, from eggs, to juveniles, and to adults. Reared adults, while in an anhydrobiotic state, were tolerant to temperatures -196C and 100C. Furthermore, they were shown to be tolerant to the exposure to 99.8% acetonitrile, 1 GPa of hydrostatic pressure, or 5000 Gy of He ion radiation. We will report the details of these results, along with the description of their life history. Due to the observed tolerance to such extreme environmental conditions, we propose R. varieornatus to be included as a suitable model for astrobiological studies of multicellular organisms.
