Crack growth is a one of the key mechanical properties for the design evaluation in fusion materials to be tested at the High Flux Test Module (HFTM) in IFMIF. In this study, crack growth rate of the F82H steel in the 288C water was investigated by using an almost standard size specimen in order to avoid the specimen size effect on the crack growth. It was found that the typical intergranular fracture surface could be obtained during the crack propagation even at room temperature. Chromium carbide, CrC, precipitation along the grain boundaries in F82H steel may influence the intergranular fracture under the fatigue crack propagation at room temperature in air. The possible evidence of crack growth in the 288C water was also observed. The crack growth rate at 30 MPa in the 288C water was conservatively estimated to about 710 m/s. Further systematic study of crack growth, and the improvement of surface finishing against crack propagation are necessary for the design evaluation in fusion materials.

Japanese activities of test facilities in IFMIF-EVEDA (International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility-Engineering Validation and Engineering Design Activities) project have three subjects of engineering design of post irradiation examination (PIE) facilities, small specimen test technique (SSTT), and engineering design of high flux test module (HFTM), and this paper is summarized about present status. Functional analysis and design of 2-D and 3-D models of PIE facility were performed. In HFTM, as materials of heater, W-3Re alloy and/or SiC/SiC composite were selected in the points of high temperature materials, fabrication technology and some suitable properties such as resistance of thermal shock, high temperature re-crystallization, ductility, resistance of irradiation degradation, and low-activation. In SSTT, a test machine of fracture toughness was designed and developed for small specimens with 10 mm square, and it had high accuracy controllability for stress and displacement.

Three electrostatic accelerators were almost operated smoothly for various experiments in FY 2005. The yearly operation time of each accelerator amounts to 1974, 2359.9, 1859.9 hour for the tandem, the single-ended and the ion implanter, respectively. Main trouble was a short circuit of a part of the ion source in the single-ended accelerator. This lets to the suspension of operation for fifteen days. As features in FY 2005, the generation of the power cut by thunderbolts and large earthquakes were abounding. By this natural force, the Turbo-molecular pump was broken, experiment was interrupted and then the inspection of accelerator facility was carried out every time. New beam acceleration and improvement of each accelerator were carried out.
