The spin pumping in the NiFe/Pt bilayer enhances the magnetization damping of the ferromagnetic layer, which is quantified from microwave frequency dependence of ferromagnetic resonance linewidth. We show that the enhancement of the magnetization damping due to the spin pumping disappears in a NiFe/SLG/Pt trilayer. This result indicates that the spin pumping is blocked by the atomic monolayer, demonstrating the crucial role of the interfacial short-range spin-exchange coupling in the spin pumping in metallic systems.

The spin pumping driven by ferromagnetic resonance injects a spin current into the paramagnetic layer, which gives rise to an electromotive force transverse to the spin current using the ISHE in the paramagnetic layer. In a NiFe/Pt film, we found an electromotive force perpendicular to the applied magnetic field at the ferromagnetic resonance condition. The spectral shape of the electromotive force is well reproduced using a simple Lorentz function, indicating that the electromotive force is due entirely to the ISHE induced by the spin pumping; the extrinsic magnetogalvanic effects are eliminated in this measurement. The electromotive force varies systematically by changing the microwave power, magnetic-field angle, and film size, which are well reproduced by a calculation based on the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation combined with the models of the ISHE and spin pumping. The electromotive force was observed also in a Pt/YFeGaO film, in which the metallic NiFe layer is replaced by an insulating YFeGaO layer, supporting that the spin-pumping-induced ISHE is responsible for the observed electromotive force.

This technical note summarizes research activities on nuclear data carried out by Japanese Nuclear Data Committee (JNDC) during the fiscal years of 2003 and 2004. During this period, the nuclear data files for special purposes (JENDL-HE-2004 and JENDL-PD-2004) were released. Other activities are described: analysis of post nuclear fuel irradiation experiments, nuclear chart and nuclear data evaluation for astrophysics.

This report summarizes the activity (FY2000-2003) of Working Group (WG) on Evaluation of Nuclide Generation and Depletion under Subcommittee on Nuclear Fuel Cycle of Japanese Nuclear Data Committee. In the WG, analyses of Post Irradiation Examinations have been carried out for UO and MOX fuels irradiated in PWRs, BWRs and FBRs, and for actinide samples irradiated in fast reactors, by using ORIGEN or more detailed calculation codes with their libraries based on JENDL-3.2, JENDL-3.3 and other foreign nuclear data files. From these results, current prediction accuracy and problems for evaluation of nuclide generation and depletion are discussed. Furthermore, this report covers other products of our activity; development of the ORIGEN libraries for PWR, BWR and FBR based on JENDL-3.3, study on introduction of neutron spectrum index to ORIGEN calculations, and results of questionnaire survey on desirable accuracy of ORIGEN calculations.

Using these methods, total pressure of the vacuum vessel reached finally 10 10 Pa. The oxygen impurity was decreased to 0.5%. The experience with the carbon-based first wall showed that taper shaping is effective to reduce the local heat concentration to the tile edges. The observed poloidal asymmetric deposition of carbon on the divertor region implies that the carbon impurity produced in the outer divertor contributes to the deposition on the inner divertor. In 1992 and 1993, the BC converted CFC tiles were installed in the outer divertor to reduce chemical sputtering of CFC tiles and oxygen impurity. The reduction was successfully demonstrated with the BC converted CFC tiles. In order to understand the tritium behavior in JT-60U, tritium in the first wall and the exhaust gas were measured. The estimated tritium inventory in the first wall was 50% of the generated tritium.
