The MMX InfraRed Spectrometer (MIRS) is an imaging spectrometer on board of MMX JAXA mission. MIRS is built at LESIA-Paris Observatory in collaboration with four other French laboratories, collaboration and financial support of CNES and close collaboration with JAXA and MELCO. The instrument is designed to fully accomplish MMX's scientific and measurement objectives. MIRS will remotely provide near-infrared spectral maps of Phobos and Deimos containing compositional diagnostic spectral features that will be used to analyze the surface composition and to support the sampling site selection. MIRS will also study Mars atmosphere, in particular to spatial and temporal changes such as clouds, dust and water vapor.

Pressure-induced phase transition and polymerization of nitrogen-rich molecules are widely focused due to its extreme importance for the development of green high energy density materials. Here, we present a study of the phase transition and chemical reaction of 1H-tetrazole up to 100 GPa by using ${it in situ}$ Raman, IR, X-ray diffraction, neutron diffraction techniques and theoretical calculation. A phase transition above 2.6 GPa was identified and the high-pressure structure was determined with one molecule in a unit cell. The 1H-tetrazole polymerizes reversibly below 100 GPa, probably through a carbon-nitrogen bonding instead of nitrogen-nitrogen bonding. Our studies updated the structure model of the high pressure phase of 1H-tetrazole, and presented the possible intermolecular bonding route for the first time, which gives new insights to understand the phase transition and chemical reaction of nitrogen-rich compounds, and benefit for designing new high energy density materials.

A search for production of the superheavy elements with atomic numbers 119 and 120 was performed in the $$^{50}$$Ti+$$^{249}$$Bk and $$^{50}$$Ti+$$^{249}$$Cf fusion-evaporation reactions, respectively, at the gas-filled recoil separator TASCA. Over four months of irradiation, neither was detected at cross-section sensitivity levels of 65 and 200 fb, respectively. The non-observation of elements 119 and 120 is discussed within the concept of fusion-evaporation reactions including various theoretical predictions on the fission-barrier heights of superheavy nuclei in the region of the island of stability.

We have performed an experiment to synthesize the element 117 (Ts) with the $$^{48}$$Ca+$$^{249}$$Bk fusion reaction. Four $$alpha$$-decay chains attributed to the element 117 were observed. Two of them were long decay chains which can be assigned to the one originating from the $$alpha$$ decay of $$^{294}$$Ts. The other two were short decay chains which are consistent with the one originating from the $$alpha$$ decay of $$^{293}$$Ts. We have compared the present results with the literature data, and found that our present results mostly confirmed the literature data, leading to the firm confirmation of the synthesis of the element 117.

Alpha-decay chains observed in the element-115 production reactions of $$^{48}$$Ca + $$^{243}$$Am were investigated using a new data set consisting of our recently reported data obtained at GSI and previously reported ones at Dubna and LBNL. Short decay chains of recoil-$$alpha$$-($$alpha$$)-fission type, fourteen of which were observed, and some of which were interpreted as the 2-neutron evaporation products $$^{289}$$Mc, have been reassigned. It is plausible that most of them were assigned to the 3-neutron evaporation products $$^{288}$$Mc whose decay chain would on the way have branches of EC decays followed by fission.

Energy neutral phosphate fertilizer production using high temperature reactors; A Philippine case study

The Philippines may profit from extracting uranium (U) from phosphoric acid during fertilizer production in a way that the recovered U can be beneficiated and taken as raw material for nuclear reactor fuel. Used in a high temperature reactor (HTR) that provides electricity and/or process heat for fertilizer processing and U extraction, energy-neutral fertilizer production, an idea first proposed by Haneklaus et al., is possible. This paper presents a first case study of the concept regarding a representative phosphate fertilizer plant in the Philippines and exemplary HTR designs (HTR50S and GTHTR300C) developed by the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). Three different arrangements (version I-III), ranging from basic electricity supply to overall power supply including on site hydrogen production for ammonia conversion, are introduced and discussed.

This paper reports the progress made at JET-ILW on integrating the requirements of the reference ITER baseline scenario with normalized confinement factor of 1, at a normalized pressure of 1.8 together with partially detached divertor whilst maintaining these conditions over many energy confinement times. The 2.5 MA high triangularity ELMy H-modes are studied with two different divertor configurations with D-gas injection and nitrogen seeding. The power load reduction with N seeding is reported. The relationship between an increase in energy confinement and pedestal pressure with triangularity is investigated. The operational space of both plasma configurations is studied together with the ELM energy losses and stability of the pedestal of unseeded and seeded plasmas.

Thirty correlated $$alpha$$-decay chains of element 115 were observed, which were consistent with previous observations interpreted as the decay chain of $$^{288}$$115. GEANT4 Monte-Carlo simulations were performed to reproduce high-resolution $$alpha$$-photon coincidence results, which allows one to propose Q$$_{alpha}$$ values and excitation schemes of the superheavy nuclei with unprecedented precision.
