To demonstrate this, Pt/NiZnFeO/Glass and Pt/BiYFeO/GdGaO SSE devices were used. We confirmed that the thermoelectric, magnetic, and structural properties of the SSE devices are not affected by the -ray irradiation. This result demonstrates that SSE devices are applicable to thermoelectric generation even in high radiation environments.

The AVF cyclotron was operated from May 9th in fiscal 2011 and all the planned experiments on April were cancelled due to scheduled blackouts originated from the Great East Japan Earthquake. The total operation time amounted to 3,038.4 hours. The extended operation from Friday evening to Saturday evening was carried out eight times in order to supply the cancellation on April. The regular yearly overhaul and maintenance were carried out.

A hydrogen combustion experiment was conducted to simulate the sodium-concrete reaction under oxygen-existing conditions. As a result, it was found that hydrogen was burnt at the sodium pool surface because as sodium combustion heat played a role of the ignition energy, and the hydrogen combination ratio increased with the increase of the oxygen concentration in the atmosphere.

This document presents the data of geological investigations in the shafts and research galleries to the depth of 300 m of the MIU from the 2004 fiscal year to the 2008 fiscal year. In the shafts and research galleries of the MIU, the Cretaceous Toki granite is unconformably overlain by the generally flat lying Miocene Mizunami Group (younging upwards from the Toki Lignite-bearing Formation to the Hongo and Akeyo Formations) with a depth of about 166 m to 168 m.

The toroidal field coil is manufactured as one of superconducting coil systems in the ITER. For welding the cover plate of TF coil, the prevention of the thermal effect on the coil and the deformation of the whole coil are required. Moreover, the application of high efficient welding is required in consideration for the productivity. Therefore, laser-arc hybrid welding process was investigated for the application to the cover plate welding, because its process is superior in the tolerance of the joint gap and the ease of the control for the heat input. In the experiment, it was confirmed that the application of laser-arc hybrid welding with the double gas shielding for high concentration arc and the filler wire for controlling the deposit amount is effective in the joint gap up to 0.8mm. Besides, twin spot laser head with the arc was developed in order to weld the both sides of cover plate simultaneously. By the optimization of welding condition for twin spot laser-arc hybrid welding process, it was confirmed to be effective in the prevention of the gap movement during welding and the acquisition of the proper penetration without the weld defect. Finally, the effectiveness of laser-arc hybrid welding for the welding deformation and the weldability on the quality was verified by the scale model test with the actual shape.

The attractive concepts for Sodium-, lead-bismuth-, helium- and water-cooled FBRs have been created through using typical plant features and employing advanced technologies. Efforts on evaluating technological prospects of feasibility have been paid for these concepts. Also, it was comfirmed if these concepts satisfy design requierments of capability and performance presumed in the feasibilty study on commertialization of Fast Breeder Reactor Systems. As results, it was concluded that the selection of sodium-cooled reactor was most rational for practical use of FBR technologies in 2015.

The detectors had 1000 times higher resistances than the ones of the previously reported Schottky-type detectors. The output pulses of the preamplifier were analyzed from the point of view of the contribution of electrons and holes. The energy spectra of Am alpha particles were measured at operating temperatures of up to 115 K. The inherent voltage of the detector was estimated.
