Taruta, Yasuyoshi; Yanagihara, Satoshi*; Hashimoto, Takashi*; Kobayashi, Shigeto*; Iguchi, Yukihiro; Kitamura, Koichi; Koda, Yuya; Tomoda, Koichi

Proceedings of 2020 International Conference on Nuclear Engineering (ICONE 2020) (Internet), 8 Pages, 2020/08

Decommissioning is a long-term project during which generations are expected to change. Therefore, it is necessary to appropriately transfer knowledge and technology to the next generation. In recent years, in the world of decommissioning, attempts have been made to apply advanced technologies such as utilization of knowledge management and virtual reality. This study describes adaptation in decommissioning from the viewpoint of utilizing IT technology called digital twin from the viewpoint of knowledge management.

Taruta, Yasuyoshi; Yanagihara, Satoshi*; Iguchi, Yukihiro; Kitamura, Koichi; Tezuka, Masashi; Koda, Yuya

Proceedings of 26th International Conference on Nuclear Engineering (ICONE-26) (Internet), 6 Pages, 2018/07

The IAEA are developed the discussion for those situations and pointed out the importance of nuclear knowledge management. The nuclear knowledge management is developing a database as nuclear knowledge management. In recent years, the IAEA has also advanced knowledge taxonomies on nuclear accidents. These studies are attempts to appropriately arrange and utilize huge amounts of information. Even in nuclear facilities in Japan, it is pointed out that veteran staff aging and loss of knowledge and skill caused by retirement. Therefore, we created a prototype database system to utilize past knowledge and information for ATR Fugen. Now, there are few cases of past decommissioning that can be utilized. This study of pilot model concept revealed that it is not sufficient to just prepare a past data and information. This is what information other than the construction report requires the decommissioning and what kind of information should be gathered.

Nihon Shiruku Gakkai-Shi, 23, p.67 - 69, 2015/03

Silk aerogel has been prepared from liquid silk, and the influences of the $$gamma$$ ray-irradiation on its mechanical property have been investigated. The formation of crosslinking structure in the sericin component by the $$gamma$$ ray-irradiation should induced the hardening of the silk aerogel.

We describe the parallelization and performance evaluation of the simulation program for emission of terahertz electromagnetic wave from high-Tc cuprate superconductors, where high performance was achieved as a result of tuning on multi-core system. Firstly the simulation space was divided for parallel processing, where MPI communication was implemented. The divided simulation space was further assigned to processes on multi-processors. Secondly parallel performance on each processor was accelerated by multi-threads implemented by OpenMP with a ratio at the number of core's. We have evaluated the parallelized program on HA8000 cluster system at Information Technology Center of the University of Tokyo, and, thus, achieved high performance in the analysis of terahertz electromagnetic wave emission from superconductors.

The VRdose Software System: - User Manual, Report and Design Documentation for R5-

Iguchi, Yukihiro; Knehira, Yoshiki; Izumi, Masanori; Fujita, Toru*; Oya, Kiyomi*

JNC-TN3520-2004-001.pdf:11.04MB

In the VRdose R5 version the connection with the dynamic radiation evaluation system (DRES) was the main task. DRES can calculate the dose rate field of the Fugen plant in detail. By inserting special markers into the scenario, VRdose tells DRES what changes have been made to the model. The changes are about objects that are inserted, removed, cut or moved. DRES will then calculate new dose rate fields reflecting these changes. To minimize the calculation needed for DRES, VRdose can provide a volume enclosing only the area of interest for a given scenario and give the resolution of the calculation in all axes. In addition to the DRES connection, version R5 retrieves information about the objects in the model from the Fugen object database. Among the large amount of information available, are size, weight and surface contamination of co-60 used. The wizard uses the size and weight information in the calculation of the man-work required. The surface contamination is used in a new feature that colorizes the objects after the contamination value. This makes it easier for workers to become aware of the contamination of pipes and pumps etc. R5 has been internationalized on all menus, buttons, messages and other text. VRdose can therefore be translated into any desired language. A feasibility study has been made into using Japanese characters in names and properties in the scenario. Printing of the 3D view has been implemented, which is useful for documenting. The scenario can also be printed, both as a graphical representation and in a textual report format. Other functionality that can be mentioned is output from the wizard to Cosmard and the saving of viewpoints. The manikins wear different protection masks and in version R5 the efficiency of the protection can be changed for each nuclide. Several other minor changes have been made, such as the ability to switch between extern dose and nuclide intake in the dose graph panels.

Development of Decommissioning Engineering Support System(DEXUS) of the Fugen Nuclear Power Station

Iguchi, Yukihiro*; Kanehira, Yoshiki*; Tachibana, Mitsuo*; Johnsen, T.*

Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 41(3), p.367 - 375, 2004/03

The Fugen Nuclear Power Station (NPS) was shut down permanently in March 2003, and preparatory activities are underway to decommission the Fugen NPS. An engineering system to support the decommissioning is being developed to create a dismantling plan using state-of-the-art software such as 3-dimentional computer aided design (3D-CAD) and virtual reality (VR). In particular, an exposure dose evaluation system using VR has been developed and tested. The total system can be used to quantify radioactive waste, to visualize radioactive inventory, to simulate the dismantling plan, to evaluate workload in radiation environments and to optimize the decommissioning plan. The system will also be useful for educating and training workers and for gaining public acceptance.

Prototype of the middleware for Grid project promoted by national institutes in Japan has been developed. Key technologies that are indispensable for construction of virtual organization were already implemented onto the prototype of middleware and examined in practical computer/network system from a view point of availability. In addition several kinds of scientific applications are being executed on the prototype system. It seems that successful result in the implementation of those technologies such as security infrastructure, component programming and collaborative visualization in practical computer/network systems means significant progress in Science Grid in Japan.

Proceedings of 12th International Conference on Nuclear Engineering (ICONE-12) (CD-ROM), 0 Pages, 2003/00

The development of decommissioning for Fugen is divided into two areas. One area is development of unique technology for dismantling special components such as the reactor core and the heavy water system. Another area is improvement and enhancement of existing technologies. Especially the former area requires effort and comprises development of the reactor dismantlement, tritium decontamination of heavy water system and engineering support systems.
