A group named as "The group for investigation of reasonable safety assurance based on graded approach", which consists of about 10 staffs from Sector of Nuclear Science Research, Safety and Nuclear Security Administration Department, departments for management of nuclear facility, Sector of Nuclear Safety Research and Emergency Preparedness, aims to realize effective graded approach (GA) about management of facilities and regulatory compliance of JAEA. The group started its activities in September, 2019 and has had discussions through 10 meetings and email communications. In the meetings, basic ideas of GA, status of compliance with new regulatory standards at each facility, new inspection system, etc were discussed, while individual investigation at each facility were shared among the members. This report is compiled with expectation that it will help promote rational and effective safety management based on GA by sharing contents of the activity widely inside and outside JAEA.

We have found new coexistence between an antiferromagnetic order in the Fe sublattice and superconductivity of the FeAs-based EuFeAs superconductor in the pressure range from 2.4 to 3.0 GPa by Fe nuclear forward scattering (NFS) using a single crystal sample. The magnetic state in the Fe sublattice changes to a new antiferromagnetic one with superconductivity from a stripe-type antiferromagnetic one observed in normal conducting state at 2.7 GPa. Below the superconducting transition temperature, the temperature dependence of Fe NFS spectra reveals that the new antiferromagnetic order develops with the superconductivity. This non-trivial coupling of two ordered states in EuFeAs under pressure demonstrates a new and intriguing relationship between magnetism and superconductivity in Fe-based superconductors.

It is important to clarify whether the high fluences, i.e., track overlaps, are essential for the elongation. Zn NPs embedded in silica were irradiated with 200-MeV Xe ions. The comparison with numerical simulation suggested that the elongation of Zn NPs was induced by nonoverlapping ion tracks.

The mission of NCT is to establish high beta steady-state operation for DEMO and to contribute to ITER. The machine flexibility and mobility is pursued in aspect ratio and shape controllability, feedback control of resistive wall modes, wide current and pressure profile control capability for the demonstration of the high-b steady state.

Recent results of the X-ray laser research in Advanced Photon Research (APR) Center in JAERI are reported. In the application of the nickel-like silver laser at a wavelength of 13.9 nm, we report the observation of the microscopic polarization clusters in ferroelectrics material such as BaTi03 by use of the X-ray speckle technique, and other experiments such as photo-ionization of inner-shell electrons are intoroduced. In the development of high quality X-ray laser beam, recently we demonstrated temporally coherent X-ray beam at 23.6 nm, in which the high-order harmonics light was injected into the Ne-like Mn X-ray amplifier. We also mention about the development of new X-ray laser driver laser, which is based on 2 beams of zig-zag slab Nd:glass lasers with 0.1 Hz repetition-rate, and each beam line can provide 10 J output energy, and 1 ps duration.

The result, MHz, corrects significantly a previous published value from a high-field experiment. With our result, the precision of the nuclear magnetic moment, Cs), is now limited by the influence of extended nuclear structure on the hfs (the Bohr-Weisskopf effect).
