In this paper, we evaluate possibility of magnetic patterning on FeRh thin films using energetic light ion microbeam irradiation with various shapes and dimensions. Proton microbeam irradiation with 2 MeV was performed at JAEA-Takasaki to produce micron-sized magnetic patterns. XMCD-PEEM observation was performed at SPring8 to confirm the synthesized magnetic patterns. As a result, the XMCD-PEEM images of the various micrometer sized patters in FeRh film were observed using 2 MeV H ion beam. The observed bright regions are considered to have ferromagnetic spin orders, in contrast that the gray areas have anti-ferromagnetic spin order. Since the brightness of the PEEM images is strongly correlated with the magnetization of the samples, we reveal that the magnetic state in local regions of the FeRh thin films can be controlled by changing the ion fluences.

ACROSS has been developed to acquire the detailed information on the tectonically active zone. The technology developed here, the transmission and reception technique, the data analysis and the interpretation technique of the ACROSS signal for example, is able to use in seismology but also in other fields. We considered the ACROSS technology may apply to the engineering technology of the MIU project, for example, to the geological environment monitoring around the shafts and the strength assessment of the shaft concrete lining. Its examination was made in the three years period from fiscal year 2007 to 2009. However, it was concluded that we required another two years of observation to evaluate the applicability of the ACROSS as a technology to monitor the geological environment around the shafts and research galleries. In this report, we describe the evaluation result of the ACROSS based on the data observed by the end of 2011.

We considered the ACROSS technology may apply to the engineering technology of the MIU project, for example monitoring of the change of the geological environment around shafts and also the strength of the shaft concrete itself. It is planned that the examination for three years will be made from fiscal year 2007. The first year is expansion of the network of observation stations, the second year is data acquisition and last year is the analysis of data and evaluation of the ACROSS. In this report, we describe the results of fundamental studies of the ACROSS and the processing results obtained from the ACROSS observation stations which were prepared in fiscal year 2007 and 2008, also describe the current evaluation results of the ACROSS.

It was found that quantum efficiency of chemical evolution from Gly2 to glycilglycilglycine (Gly3) is smaller than that to glycilglycilglycilglycine (Gly4) due to the multiple step of reaction. From natural circular dichroism spectra measurements for serine and alanine films, we found the splitting of 1s transitions in the energy region of oxygen 1s.

We held Horonobe technical review meeting 4 times a year. The first meeting is for the plan of Horonobe underground research laboratory and others. The secound meeting is for geology of Horonobe area and modeling study and data acquisition for safety assessment methodology and others. The third meeting is for ventilation network analyses on URL plan. The fourth meeting is for the remote monitoring system using ACROSS. This report is records of these meetings.
