In the safety assessment concerning disposal of radioactive wastes generated in the decommissioning of nuclear facilities, it is necessary to evaluate the radionuclide inventory produced by the activation of structured materials. For this purpose, we have to pay much attention to the activation of many impurities irradiated in various neutron spectra depending on their positions and materials. Therefore, accurate activation cross-section data are necessary for many nuclides and reactions. A new multi-group neutron activation cross-section library (MAXS) was developed based on the recent nuclear data JENDL-4.0 and JEFF-3.0/A to apply it to the activation calculations for the decommissioning of nuclear facilities. The library contains cross-sections and isomeric ratios for many reactions such as (n,), (n,f), (n,2n), (n,3n), (n,p), (n,), (n,d), (n,t), (n,n), (n,np), and so on, for 779 nuclides, in the 199-energy group structure of VITAMIN-B6.

Multiply charged-state ions produce strong resonance emission lines, which combine to yield intense unresolved transition arrays in Gd, Tb, and Mo. The maximum in-band EUV conversion efficiency was observed to be 0.8%, which is one of the highest values ever reported due to the reduction of plasma expansion loss.

Photons and charged particles were measured by the PHENIX experiment. Event structure was compared with the results from PYTHIA event generator. The production rate of reconstructed jets is satisfactorily reproduced with the next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculation. We measured = -0.0014 0.0037 at the lowest bin and -0.0181 0.0282 at the highest bin. The measured is compared with the predictions that assume various distributions.

Here we extend these studies to two particle correlations where one particle is an electron from the decay of a heavy flavor meson and the other is a charged hadron from either the decay of the heavy meson or from jet fragmentation. These measurements provide more detailed information about the interaction between heavy quarks and the quark-gluon matter. We find the away-side-jet shape and yield to be modified in Au+Au collisions compared to collisions.

The spectral shapes of all hadron transverse momentum distributions are well described by a Tsallis distribution functional form with only two parameters, and , determining the high and characterizing the low regions for the spectra, respectively. The integrated invariant cross sections calculated from the fitted distributions are found to be consistent with existing measurements and with statistical model predictions.

We aim to explore effects of the generation number (GN) and concentration of the dendrimers, [GN-NH], on the self-assembly of the dendrimers (defined hereafter as "templates") and the Pd nanoparticles inside the templates in order to clarify physical factors controlling the self-assembling mechanisms. We found that the templates are formed only when [GN-NH] falls below a critical value and thereby a sufficient amount of Pd(OAc) exists as the binders between the dendrimers. Otherwise dendrimers are molecularly dispersed in solution.

The process was induced by mixing the following two solutions: (A) Pd(OAc) dissolved in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and (B) the G1-NH dissolved in methanol, under a specific condition of [Pd(OAc)]/[-NH] = 3.3 where [-NH] is mole concentration of the amine groups in the dendrimer in the reaction solution. The reaction and reaction-induced self-assembling process were explored in-situ by means of a combined time-resolved method of small-angle neutron scattering and small-angle X-ray scattering. The method revealed time-evolution of a series of self-assembling processes occurring in the system.

The design of International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) had been done during the period of Engineering Design Activities (EDA) and its final deign report was published on July 2001. After that the further design studies have been performed as activities in the CTA and ITA periods. As for Tokamak complex, Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI) performed preliminary study for both static and dynamic analyses with a few types of analysis models based on the Technical Guidelines for Aseismic Design of Nuclear Power Plants etc during EDA. In comparison with reactor building for nuclear fission power plant, its outside is not so different from reactor building's one. However, its structural characteristics inside building are apparently different from reactor building's one, because the bio shield of Tokamak complex has a lot of large penetration of ports. Therefore, characteristic of dynamic analysis models for Tokamak complex needs to be evaluated in order to perform the detailed design of Tokamak complex in account for site-dependent conditions. This report describes results of characteristic evaluation with representative analytical models for Tokamak complex, which are modeled with Finite Element Method and Lumped mass, and it is confirmed that adopted evaluation method of the bio shield wall and floor's stiffnesses around the bio shield wall for Lumped mass model is adequate.
