Times Cited Count:0 Percentile:0.00(Materials Science, Multidisciplinary)We have studied the microscopic magnetic properties, the nature of the 130 K phase transition, and the ground state in the recently synthesized compound CeRhGa by use of Ga nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR). The NQR spectra clearly show an unusual phase transition at K, yielding a splitting of the high-temperature single NQR line into two well-resolved NQR lines, providing evidence for two crystallographically inequivalent Ga sites. The NQR frequencies are in good agreement with fully relativistic calculations of the band structure. Our NQR results indicate the absence of magnetic or charge order down to 0.3 K. The temperature dependence of the spin-lattice relaxation rate shows three distinct regimes, with onset temperatures at and 2 K. The temperature-independent , observed between and 2 K, crosses over to a Korringa process, , below 2 K, which evidences a rare two-ion Kondo scenario: The system evolves into a dense Kondo coherent state below 2.0 and 0.8 K probed by the two different Ga sites.

The field-angular dependence of Co-NMR spin-lattice relaxation rate has been measured for a 10% Co-doped single crystal of URhGe. The experiment revealed that spin fluctuations in ferromagnetic (FM) state of URhGe are robust against magnetic field below about 4 T, applied along any direction in the crystal plane. This is in clear contrast with the sister compound UCoGe, in which FM spin fluctuations are rapidly suppressed by a tiny applied field along the axis. We show that such a difference in the character of the spin fluctuations is reflected in their two distinct phase diagrams for the upper critical field , providing further support to the mechanism of superconductivity mediated by spin fluctuations in these materials.

Our high-field Co NMR measurements on 10% Co-doped URhGe up to 30 T prove that this unconventional behavior of the superconductivity (SC) is associated with a strong anisotropy of field-dependent quantum fluctuations near a tricritical point. These fluctuations are rapidly suppressed by the field component along the axis, while being unaffected by any field component along the axis. The observed close interplay between the SC and quantum fluctuations strongly supports a pairing mechanism mediated by these fluctuations in URhGe.

Unconventional states observed in the vicinity of the metamagnetic transition have been the subject of a number of recent publications. The object of this study is to elucidate the interplay between superconductivity and metamagnetism in URhGe. The nature of the metamagnetism becomes particularly important in ferromagnetic superconductors URhGe and UCoGe, since it is likely related to the pairing mechanism for their unconventional superconductivity. Here we report the result of our Co-NMR study on URhCoGe and discuss the origin of the field induced superconducting phenomenon observed in high fields around 12 T.

We show that critical fluctuations develop in the same limited region near the field as that where RSC is observed. This strongly suggests these quantum fluctuations as the pairing glue responsible for the RSC. The fluctuations observed are characteristic of a tricritical point.

Times Cited Count:9 Percentile:52.86(Physics, Nuclear)Measurements of electrons from the decay of open-heavy-flavor mesons have shown that the yields are suppressed in Au+Au collisions compared to expectations from binary-scaled collisions. Here we extend these studies to two particle correlations where one particle is an electron from the decay of a heavy flavor meson and the other is a charged hadron from either the decay of the heavy meson or from jet fragmentation. These measurements provide more detailed information about the interaction between heavy quarks and the quark-gluon matter. We find the away-side-jet shape and yield to be modified in Au+Au collisions compared to collisions.

H-InvDB, originally developed as an integrated database of the human transcriptome based on extensive annotation of large sets of fulllength cDNA (FLcDNA) clones, now provides annotation for 120 558 human mRNAs extracted from the International Nucleotide Sequence Databases (INSD), in addition to 54 978 human FLcDNAs, in the latest release H-InvDB. We mapped those human transcripts onto the human genome sequences (NCBI build 36.1) and determined 34 699 human gene clusters, which could define 34 057 protein-coding and 642 non-protein-coding loci; 858 transcribed loci overlapped with predicted pseudogenes.

Ferromagnetism is incompatible in general with superconductivity (SC) with singlet spin pairs, since a strong exchange field in ferromagnetic state forces the spin pairs to align in the same direction. In contrast, fluctuation of ferromagnetic moments has been supposed to create a binding force between quasi-particles with triplet spin. Such an unconventional spin-triplet state, mediated by ferromagnetic fluctuations, is now expected to be realized in a family of uranium based compounds, UGe, URhGe and UCoGe, so far the only fully established examples of ferromagnetic superconductors in which uniform SC is realized deep inside the ferromagnetic states. To elucidate the mechanism of this exotic SC, we have prepared a URhGe single crystal and performed nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments.
