Miki, Naoya*; Harazono, Yuki*; Ishii, Hirotake*; Shimoda, Hiroshi*; Koda, Yuya

Proceedings of 2nd International Conference on Computer-Human Interaction Research and Applications (CHIRA 2018) (USB Flash Drive), p.134 - 140, 2018/09

In this study, in order to make measuring lengths of the objects and the gaps at NPPs more efficient, the Distance Information Display System was developed, which make it easy for the dismantling workers to measure them. The results showed that the Distance Information Display System developed in this study can be used easily with extremely simple operation by the dismantling workers at NPPs, and the workers can also measure the lengths in a short time.

The excitation function of the $$^8$$Li(d,t)$$^7$$Li reaction was directly measured using $$^8$$Li beams at E$$_{mathrm{cm}}$$ = 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.7, 0.8, 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 MeV with CD$$_2$$ targets. The beam energies covered the Gamow peaks for 1$$sim$$3$$times$$10$$^9$$ K. Large cross sections were observed at around E$$_{mathrm{cm}}$$ = 0.8 MeV, implying a resonance state located at 22.4 MeV in $$^{10}$$Be. The present astrophysical reaction rate is higher in one order magnitude than the presently adopted rate at around 1$$times$$10$$^9$$ K.

Physical properties of cerium compounds CeTX$$_3$$ were studied on single crystals. Electrical resistivity, magnetization as well as their pressure dependence revealed that the antiferromagnetism of CeCoGe$$_3$$ is destroyed under hydrostatic pressure above 5.4 GPa and the superconductivity appears above this pressure.

This study designed linecode marker, a new type of paper-based marker and proposed recognition, tracking algorithm for it in order to resolve these problems. In comparison of the conventional paper-based markers, such as square markers, circle markers, the linecode marker is not only just easier to set up in complex industrial environment, but also makes it possible to use AR in industrial plant. In order to evaluate the tracking accuracy, trackable distance of the proposed tracking method, an evaluation experiment was conducted in a large room. The experiment results show that: comparing with traditional marker-based tracking method, tracking possible distance extends extremely; tracking accuracy improved to a level of 20cm in 10m distance.

The excitation function of the $$^{8}$$Li($$alpha$$,n)$$^{11}$$B reaction was measured while identifying the final state event by event in the region of E$$_{rm{cm}}$$ = 0.7 - 2.6 MeV using a highly efficient detector system and a low-energy $$^8$$Li beam. The results are much improved both in statistics and precisions, and show smaller cross sections than those of previous measurements by a factor of more than 2 in the low-energy region of E$$_{rm{cm}}le$$ 1.5 MeV. A resonance-like structure is found at around E$$_{rm{cm}}$$ = 0.85 MeV.

no journal, ,

A support method of decommissioning work of nuclear power plants using Augmented Reality was proposed and a prototype system was developed. Then, using the prototype system, the proposed method was evaluated. Three workers used the prototype system along with a scenario which dismantles an ion tower, and then questionnaire and interview investigation was conducted. As the results, it was found that the proposed method that records the cutting parts on the CAD data using a stylus pen was easy and effective compared to the legacy recording method using paper documents, but a new tablet PC that has a larger screen with lighter weight is necessary in order to apply the proposed method to the real decommissioning work.

no journal, ,

This study aims at developing an augmented reality system to support maintenance work of nuclear power plants. An accurate and wide-range tracking method is required as a key technology in order to realize the system. In this study, a new tracking method using multi-camera and gyro sensor has been developed in order to enlarge the area where the tracking is available with limited number of markers. Experimental evaluation result shows that the area where the developed method can cover is about 3 times larger than the method using single camera.

Development of worksite visualization system for Fugen NPS, 2; Marker arrangement optimization using generic algorithm

Ishii, Hirotake*; Shimoda, Hiroshi*; Bian, Z.*; Izumi, Masanori; Morishita, Yoshitsugu

no journal, ,

Improvement of tracking accuracy is an important issue when applying augmented reality to nuclear power plant fieldwork. Tracking accuracy depends highly on the marker arrangement when employing a tracking method using a camera and markers. Tracking accuracy becomes low if markers are pasted arbitrarily only on places that are easy to paste them onto. For those reasons, this study develops a marker arrangement optimization algorithm based on genetic algorithms. Tracking error caused by finite camera resolution is considered particularly in this study. A wheel tracking error computation method is developed to compute the tracking error from the marker arrangement. A genetic algorithm is adopted for obtaining higher tracking accuracy from an initial pool of marker arrangements using wheel tracking error computation as a fitness function. Trial results show that the tracking accuracy can be improved markedly by applying the marker arrangement optimization algorithm.

no journal, ,

Augmented Reality is one of the promising technologies that will be able to improve efficiency and safety of the nuclear power plant maintenance work. In order to apply the Augmented Reality to the maintenance work, various studies must be done, such as improvement of the tracking technology, improvement of the user interface and human centered evaluation of the Augmented Reality system. The authors have conducted several studies of these issues for almost 5 years. In this paper, a part of these studies are reported.

A systematic study of astrophysical reaction rates on light neutron-rich nuclei using low-energy radioactive nuclear beams (RNB) is in progress at the tandem facility of Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). Direct measurements of reaction rates of $$^8$$Li($$alpha$$, n)$$^{11}$$B, $$^{12}$$B($$alpha$$, n)$$^{15}$$N and, $$^8$$Li(d, p), (d, t), (d, $$alpha$$), (p, $$alpha$$) have been carried out. Measured excitation functions and obtained reaction rates will be presented. Possible r-process path via $$^8$$Li at each temperature during r-process and the influence of r-process abundance will be discussed.
