A leakage neutron spectrum from a niobium sphere of 0.5 m in radius with a 20 MeV neutron in the center, which was calculated with ANISN, MCNP and JENDL-3.3, had a large strange bump around 100 keV, which originated from the unresolved resonance data. We checked cross section data of (n,) reaction and elastic scattering in Nb with and without self-shielding correction by using a multigroup library of JENDL-3.3. The self-shielding correction of the unresolved resonances seems to be too large even around the upper energy of the unresolved resonance region. It is considered that the average reduced neutron widths or the upper energy of the unresolved resonance region in Nb have any problems. It is found out that many nuclei with unresolved resonance data in JENDL-3.3 and ENDF/B-VI have the similar problem. The unresolved resonance data in JENDL-3.3 and ENDF/B-VI should be revised by considering self-shielding correction in the next version.

Investigation of the behavior of stress and strain in the vicinity of active faults provides valuable data. We have performed continuous strain observation and stress measurements in the active Mozumi-Sukenobe Fault. Two strain meters were installed on both sides of the crushed zones. Characteristic strain variations on both sides indicate right lateral movements that are almost identical to the movements of the fault. The stress measurements also indicate the same pattern as the fault movements, although the values are smaller than usual. The reason proposed is that the crushed zone of the fault can not accumulate stress. The behavior of strain variation suggests that fault movements are caused by the actions of tectonic stress but that the accumulation of this stress is small in the vicinity of the fault stress.

For the nuclear material accounting system, the mainframe computer had been used in Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI). For the purpose of more flexible use and easy operation, the PC base accounting system has been developed since 1999, and operation started from October, 2002. This system consists of the server with the database software and the client PC with original application software. The functions of this system are the input and edit of data, the creation of inspection correspondence data, and creation of a report to the states. Furthermore, it is also possible to create the Web application which used accounting data on a user level by using the programming language. Now, this system is being specialized in JAERI, but it is during a plan to develop as a system which can be also used at other institutions and organization. In the paper, the outline and operating situation of the nuclear material accounting system of JAERI are presented.
