Environmental radiation monitoring around the Tokai Reprocessing Plant has been performed by the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories, based on "Safety Regulations for the Reprocessing Plant of Japan Atomic Energy Agency, Chapter IV - Environmental Monitoring". This annual report presents the results of the environmental monitoring and the dose estimation to the hypothetical inhabitant due to the radioactivity discharged from the plant to the atmosphere and the sea during April 2015 to March 2016. In this report, some data include the influence of the accidental release from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station of Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc. in March 2011. Appendices present comprehensive information, such as monitoring programs, monitoring methods, monitoring results and their trends, meteorological data and discharged radioactive wastes. In addition, the data which were influenced by the accidental release and were exceeded the normal range of fluctuation in the monitoring, were evaluated.

The radiological impact of the radionuclides released from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station to the sea offshore of Ibaraki has been studied in this research. Fifty-one seabed sediments were collected in 2012, 2013 and 2014, respectively. Then, all samples were measured for the activities of Cs and Cs and some samples were analyzed for the activities of Sr. The results indicated that the activities of Cs and Cs were elevated by the accident and showed a decreasing tendency between 2012 and 2014. The tendency of activity in Kuji Riverestuary area was different from Ibaraki coast area. The difference could be caused by geological feature and grain size of seabed sediment etc. On the other hand, Sr activities were ND-0.26 Bq/kg dry. It was no correlation between Sr and Cs activity. The Sr activity released by the accident was small influence on seabed sediment collected around sea offshore of Ibaraki.

(TEPCO) by the accident and then reached around our laboratories. Therefore the accident influence on our environment was investigated to measure the concentrations of cesium-134 (Cs), cesium-137 Cs, strontium-90 (Sr) and plutonium isotopes in seabed sediments. The values for Cs ranged from 6.1 to 300 Bq/kg (dry wt) and the ratio of Cs /Cs ranged from 0.48 to 0.77. The highest point of Cs concentration was observed at the northernmost station near Kitaibaraki City and the concentration was similar to report by MEXT.

As a correspondence to the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, the environmental radiation monitoring was performed at the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories, JAEA. This report presented the measurement results of ambient radiation dose rate, radioactivity concentration in the air and radioactivity concentration in fallout and meteorological observation result until May 31, 2011. The ambient radiation dose rate increased, with the peak dose rate of several thousand nGy/h at 7 o'clock in March 15, at 5 o'clock in March 16, and at 4 o'clock in March 21. The variation on the radioactivity concentration in the air and in fallout showed the almost same tendency as that of the dose rate. The concentration ratio of I-131/Cs-137 in the air increased to about 100. The dose was estimated resulting from internal exposure due to inhalation.

Ion cyclotron emissions (ICEs) due to deuterium-deuterium fusion-product (FP) ions on JT-60U are studied. ICE due to H-ions is identified from the difference of the toroidal wave number of 2nd ICE(D). The parameter dependence for the appearance of ICE(H) is investigated from the experimental conditions and also is studied by using "Escape Particle Orbit analysis Code (EPOC)".

The maximum heat flux to JT-60SA divertor is estimated to 15 MW/m for 100 s, and a monoblock-type CFC divertor armor is promising. The JT-60SA armor consists of CFC monoblocks, a cooling CuCrZr screw-tube, and a thin OFHC-Cu buffer layer, and the brazed joints are essential for the armor. Metalization inside CFC monoblock is applied for further improvement, and we confirmed again that the mock-up has heat removal capability in excess of ITER requirement. For optimization of the fabrication method and understanding of the production yield, the mock-ups corresponding to quantity produced in one furnace is also produced, and the half of the mock-ups could remove 15 MW/m as required. This summarizes the recent progress of design and mock-up test results for JT-60SA divertor armor.
