The synergistic ionic-liquid extraction and extraction equilibrium of lanthanoid(III) (Ln(III)) ions have been investigated using 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone (Htta) and trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO) in the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide ([C$$_{4}$$mim][Tf$$_{2}$$N]). The selective synergistic effect for heavier Ln(III) ions was found using a combination of Htta and TOPO in [C$$_{4}$$mim][Tf$$_{2}$$N], leading to enhanced separability among Ln(III) ions. The extracted Ln(III) species and the extraction constants in the Htta-TOPO system were determined by three-dimensional extraction equilibrium analysis. The selective synergism for heavier Ln(III) ions in the Htta-TOPO system was ascribed to the formation of hydrophobic, charged adducts, such as Ln(tta)$$_{2}$$(TOPO)$$_{3}$$$$^{+}$$ and Ln(tta)(TOPO)$$_{3}$$$$^{2+}$$, in [C$$_{4}$$mim][Tf$$_{2}$$N].

Excited states in the $$N$$ = 40 isotone $$^{62}$$Ti were populated via the $$^{63}$$V($$p$$,$$2p$$)$$^{62}$$Ti reaction at $$sim$$200 MeV/nucleon at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory and studied using $$gamma$$-ray spectroscopy. The energies of the $$2_1^+ rightarrow 0_{rm gs}^+$$ and $$4_1^+ rightarrow 2_1^+$$ transitions, observed here for the first time, indicate a deformed Ti ground state. These energies are increased compared to the neighboring $$^{64}$$Cr and $$^{66}$$Fe isotones, suggesting a small decrease of quadrupole collectivity. The present measurement is well reproduced by large-scale shell-model calculations based on effective interactions, while ab initio and beyond mean-field calculations do not yet reproduce our findings.

Toward a reliable description of ($$p$$,$$pN$$) reactions in the distorted-wave impulse approximation

Our goal is to investigate the effects of various corrections and uncertainties within the standard distorted-wave impulse approximation (DIWA) formalism on the ($$p$$,$$pN$$) cross sections. We analyze the ($$p$$,$$2p$$) and ($$p$$,$$pn$$) reactions data measured at the R3B/LAND setup at GSI for carbon, nitrogen and oxygen isotopes in the incident energy range of 300-450 MeV/u. Cross sections and reduction factors are calculated by the DWIA method. We have found that including the nonlocality corrections and M$$o$$ller factor affects the cross sections considerably. The proton-neutron asymmetry dependence of reduction factors extracted by the DWIA calculation is very weak and consistent with those given by other reaction methods and ab initio structure calculations. They also suggest that some higher-order effects, which is essential for an accurate cross section description at large recoil momentum, is missing in the current DWIA and other reaction models.

By the nuclear disaster of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (FDNPS), Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the following tsunami on March 11, 2011, a large amount of radioactive material was released from the FDNPS. After the nuclear disaster, airborne radiation monitoring using manned helicopter has been conducted around FDNPS. The results in the fiscal 2018 were summarized in this report. Discrimination method of gamma rays from Rn-progenies was also utilized to evaluate their effect on aerial radiation monitoring. In addition, analysis taken topographical effects into consideration was applied to previous results of airborne monitoring to improve the precision of conventional method.

Exact vector channel sum rules at finite temperature

Gubler, P.; Sato, Daisuke*

JPS Conference Proceedings (Internet), 26, p.024023_1 - 024023_5, 2019/11

In this talk, I will introduce and review several exact sum rules of the vector channel spectral function at finite temperature, which we have derived in a recent paper. I will also discuss an explicit check of these sum rules in perturbation theory and possible application to the analysis of lattice QCD data.
