JENDL-5, the latest version of the Japanese evaluated nuclear data library, includes several sub-libraries to contribute to various applications. In this paper, we outline the evaluation and validation of the deuteron reaction sub-library developed mainly for the design of accelerator-based neutron sources and the alpha-particle reaction sub-library developed mainly for use in the back-end field. As for the deuteron sub-library, the data for Li,
Be, and
C from JENDL/DEU-2020 were partially modified and adopted. The data up to 200 MeV for
Al,
Cu, and
Nb, which are important as accelerator structural materials, were newly evaluated based on the calculations with the DEURACS code. As for the alpha-particle sub-library, the data up to 15 MeV for 18 light nuclides from Li to Si isotopes were evaluated based on the calculations with the CCONE code, and then only the neutron production cross sections were replaced with the data of JENDL/AN-2005. Validation on neutron yield by Monte Carlo transport simulations was performed for both sub-libraries. As a result, it was confirmed that the simulations based on the sub-libraries showed good agreement with experimental data.

Times Cited Count:0 Percentile:0.03(Physics, Nuclear)Optical model or coupled-channels calculation serves as an entrance to sophisticated calculation of nuclear data. It was a great contribution of Dr. Efrem Sh. Soukhovitsukii who has developed an excellent computation scheme which takes account of the low-lying collective nuclear structure in terms of the soft-rotator + vibrational model, and integrated it into the coupled-channels calculation. In Japan, we had a fortuitous experience with him in parametrization of the optical model potential (OMP) and to employ this methodology in nuclear data evaluation for JENDL. Firstly, we summarize our collaborative works with him in this paper. Secondly, let us have a discussion on a new parameterization of OMP which we obtained for light nuclei within his framework, quite recently. It was found that values of the potential parameters themselves are rather similar among different nuclei while the nuclear deformation describes one of the main characteristics of each isotopes.

We have evaluated double-differential cross-sections (DDX) of the Be(p,xn) reaction based on the function proposed by Wakabayashi et al. up to 12 MeV. Through compilation in the ENDF-6 format file, data processing, and neutronics analysis with MC simulation codes MCNP and PHITS to thick target yield (TTY) measurements, the function was re-confirmed to give more reasonable DDX data than those in our previous library JENDL-4.0/HE and ENDF/B-VIII.0. We finally decided to reduce the absolute cross-sections by 15% for our new nuclear data library JENDL-5 since the prediction ability of neutronics simulation was much better than that based on the original function. Through comprehensive comparisons of the simulation results on TTY at different proton energies and neutron emission angles, we conclude that JENDL-5 gives the best estimation in the world.

The neutron-induced fission cross sections were simultaneously evaluated for the JENDL-5 library for U and
Pu from 10 keV to 200 MeV and for
U and
Pu from 100 keV to 200 MeV. Evaluation was performed by least-squares fitting of Schmittroth's roof function to the logarithms of the experimental cross sections and cross section ratios in the EXFOR library. A simultaneous evaluation code SOK was used with its extension to data in arbitrary unit. This report describes (1) construction of the experimental database, (2) selection of data points from TUD-KRI collaboration, (3) comparison with the evaluated cross sections in recent major libraries, and (4) impact of the
U datasets published in 1970s.
