The heat characteristic test and the fracture toughness test using the core from borehole MIZ-1

The heat characteristic test and the fracture toughness test were made about the following item with this case by using the core from borehole MIZ-1. These tests are a part of the investigation research of the investigation prediction research grade from the surface of the earth in the underground laboratory plan, and aim at grasping the heat character and the fracture toughness of the rock to the depth 500m in Toki Granite. The samples for 5-depth were used in each tests. *The heat characteristic test. Thermal conductivity, Specific heat, Coefficient of thermal expansion. *The fracture toughness test. Level I $$cdot$$ Round Bar Bending Method. Main results of the experimental study are concluded as following. (1)The results that could get them in the heat characteristic tests were the degree that they were the same as previous values. (2)Though it could get the result that the tendency that it was partly different was shown in, it thinks by the heat characteristic test value with the influence such as mineral formation, hydrothermal alteration, and shear crack band. (3)The thermal conductivity and the coefficient of thermal expansion showed a tendency of decreasing on the whole in the depth direction. On the other hand, the specific heat got about fixed results, not based on the depth. (4)The space of the depth 300-400mabh (meter along bore hole) was compared with the upper 3-depth as a border, and the decline of the value of the lower 2-depth was remarkable as for the stress intensity factor that could get it in the fracture toughness test. As for other dynamics material value as well, the same tendency was confirmed.
