The dosimetry of a 110 keV electron beam (EB) irradiation field is studied using a calorimeter, film dosimeter, and Monte Carlo simulation. This is important base for dose control in practical processing to guarantee the process reproducibility and product reliability. The simulation results are validated on the measurement of the energy fluence obtained by the calorimeter at one position in the air plane at different distances from a beam exit window. The spatial dose distribution obtained from the simulation is compared to that obtained by the film dosimeter. They show good agreement within 5.0%. The precision of 5.0% is sufficient to control the surface modification of polymers and the development of semiconductor devices in practical radiation processing. These results suggest that film dosimetry results at just one position in the air plane are sufficient to determine the irradiation characteristics of the low energy EB, and to provide a base of quality control measures in practical radiation processing.

A high average power tunable solid state laser is pumped by the second harmonic of LD-pumped high repetition rate Nd:YAG laser consisting of a single-longitudinal-mode oscillator and amplifiers. To operate the Nd:YAG laser oscillator with a single-longitudinal-mode by injection seeding, the cavity length control is required to coincide the resonant frequency of Nd:YAG laser oscillator with the frequency of seeder. For this purpose, a cavity length control system of the Nd:YAG laser oscillator is developed and the characteristics are studied. With this system, the cavity length is controlled at the pulse repetition rate of 0.5 kHz and the single frequency operation for more than three hours is realized.

The neutron zooming tube has been developed using electronic zooming TV readout system for an X-ray microscope. This system consists of the photocathode, the electro-magnetic coil assembly and the CCD TV camera etc.. The photocathode consists of transmission type CsI layer in combination with neutron converters such as Gd foil. The system position sensitive resolution of 20m has been obtained using neutron converter. We have found that it is determined from the distance between the CsI layer and the neutron converter, then the limiting resolution could be improved.
