System management for aggregation of knowledge on marine geological survey in coastal areas

Takahashi, Tadao*; Sato, Toshinori; Masunaga, Kosuke

JAEA-Review 2017-030, 60 Pages, 2018/01

JAEA-Review-2017-030.pdf:4.32MB

The amount of the information such as the data, models and analysis results related to geological environment has been enormous. It is believed that an appropriate organization of the information is useful for conducting geological environment survey work at the candidate sites of geological disposal. The Survey on Geological Disposal Technology projects commissioned by METI that started in FY2015 handles various information such as the data, models, analysis results, etc. of geological environment. In this project, in preparation for collection and compilation of the information on geological environment in coastal areas, we have made clear the current status of the existing systems including databases. At the same time, we have created measures for centralized information management for the purpose of organizing a huge amount of information as well as sharing the information and information management systems among the related organizations.

Trial visualization of fast reactor design knowledge

Yoshikawa, Shinji; Minami, Masaki*; Takahashi, Tadao*

Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 48(4), p.709 - 714, 2011/04

In design problems of large-scale systems like fast breeder reactors, inter-relations among design specifications are very important where a selected specification option is transferred to other specification selections as a premise to be taken account in engineering judgments. These inter-relations are also important in design case studies with hypothetical adoption of rejected design options for evaluation of deviation propagations among design specifications. Some of these rejected options have potential worth for future reconsideration by some circumstance changes (e.g., advanced simulations to exclude needs for mock-up tests, etc), to contribute for flexibility in system designs. In this study, a computer software is built to visualize design problem structure by representing engineering knowledge nodes on individual specification selections along with inter-relations of design specifications, to validate the knowledge representation method and to derive open problems.

Since 1998 to 2002, a new clinical trial of an intraoperative boron neutron capture therapy (IOBNCT) at JRR-4 of Japan Atomic Energy Institute (JAERI) using BSH with mixed thermal/epithermal neutron beam has been accomplished. There have been 9 patients included in this study. The median survival time (MST) in GBM was 19.8 months and 16.8 months in AA. IOBNCT with mixed thermal/epithermal neutron beam provide better primary radiation effect than conventional therapy in selected cases. Our phase I/II clinical trial was effective in local tumor control. Further clinical trial with new design should be performed to prove the efficacy of IOBNCT.

Generally, in the phenomena of hydrogen permeation or diffusion through nickel membrane, the relationship between the measured pressure P$$_{rm IP}$$ (pressure in vacuum side (mmHg)) and P$$_{rm rm NH}$$ (partial pressure of hydrogen in sodium (mmHg)) should be according half-power low, [P$$_{rm IP}$$ $${propto}$$ P$$_{rm NH}$$$$^{1/2}$$] But some report indicated that the above equation is not realized, and the same phenomenon was also observed in our in-sodium experiments of the SWAT-2 and 50MWSGTF at PNC. This phenomenon is very important in the desigen detectors. An in gas experiment (range of P$$_{NH}$$ ; 10$$^{-4}$$ $$sim$$ 10$$^{2}$$ mmHg, temperature; 5 stages of 216$$^{circ}$$C $$sim$$ 505$$^{circ}$$C) was performed using the Nickel Membrane Ionpump Type Hydrogen Detectors (Thickness:0.25m, Area: $$sim$$150cm$$^{2}$$) in the 50MW Steam Generator Test Facility of PNC, and empirical results for the pressure dependence effect on the permeability K that could be employed in the design of hydrogen detectors were obtained as follow, (1)When P$$_{NH}$$ $$>$$ 0.5 Torr, K is found to be independent of pressure and the temperature dependence is expressed as [K=k exp (-E/RT)] Where, K is a constant, R the gas constant, E the activation energy and T the temperature. (2) When P$$_{NH}$$ $$>$$ 0.5 Torr, permeability K$$^{*}$$ is expressed as [K$$^{*}$$ = K$$cdot$$b P$$_{NH}$$$$^{1/m}$$] Where K is the same as above equation, b and m are constants. This indicates that the pressure dependence of pemeability in the low pressure range tends to be expressed by the Freundlich's adsorption isotherm equation. From the experiments, b and m are determined as follows (these were found to be independent of temperature): [b=1.25, m=2.8] (3) If the relationship between P$$_{NH}$$ and P$$_{IF}$$ is written as [P$$_{IP}$$ $${propto}$$ P$$_{NH}$$$$^{1/n}$$ the combination of n and m yielde the following equation [ 1/n = 1/m + 1/2] The value of n was extracted from the data of in-sodium hydrogen detectors in SCTI, Phenix, PNC(SWAT-2,
