Advance of research and development in the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute

日本原子力研究所(原研)は、原子力委員会の「原子力の研究,開発及び利用に関する長期計画」及び総合科学技術会議の「科学技術基本計画」に示された国の施策に基づき、我が国のエネルギーの長期的な安定供給,科学技術の発展及び国民生活の質の向上に向け、原子力の持つ多様な可能性を最大限に活用する研究開発を総合的に進めている。本報では、2002年12月から2003年11月までの、原研における主要な研究開発の成果を紹介する。

The Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI) is comprehensively promoting Research and Development (R&D) activities to make the best use of a variety of potentials of atomic energy, based on the governmental policy described in the Atomic Energy Commission's "Long-Term Program for Research, Development and Utilization of Nuclear Energy" and the "Science and Technology Basic Plan" framed by the Council for Science and Technology Policy. These activities pursue long-range stable supply of energy, development of science and technology, and quality improvement of people's life in Japan. This paper introduces major advances of JAERI's R&D from December 2002 to November 2003.
