The Outline of research and development toward commercialization of FBR cycle technology

"Feasibility Study on Commercialized Fast Reactor Cycle Systems (F/S)" progressed in new R&D stage focused on development for commercialization as "Fast Reactor Cycle Technology Development (FaCT)" project based on the result of F/S phase II study and the review by the Japanese Government. In this project, the main concept is the combination of the sodium-cooled fast reactor with oxide fuel, the advanced aqueous reprocessing and the simplified pelletizing fuel fabrication. Conceptual design studies of demonstration and commercial facilities and R&Ds of innovative technologies will be implemented by 2015.
