The Neutron scattering study of NpIn$$_{3}$$ under magnetic fields

NpIn$$_{3}$$ crystalizes in the cubic AuCu$$_{3}$$-type structure similar to the pressure-induced superconductor CeIn$$_{3}$$ as well as PrPb$$_{3}$$ with the antiferroquadrupolar ground state. Previous magnetization and specific heat measurements revealed ferro- and antiferromagnetic orderings and a new field-induced ordered phase (AF+FM). We have determined the magnetic structure of AF+FM phase using the neutron scattering experiments under both longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields. Furthermore, a peculiar magnetic structure was found in AF+FM phase, where the antiferromagnetic moments align parallel to the applied magnetic field, by using polarized neutron scattering experiments.
